In The City Of Love
Hey Jules
I hope you missed me. Will be back with more pictures about my travels real soon!
Barcelona II
Barcelona I
A and I finally made it to Barcelona! We heard so much about this place – the petty thieves, the gorgeous beaches, the friendly people, the glorious food… And indeed, this place lived up to expectations and we fell in love with Barcelona the moment we set foot on it! After dumping our rucksacks in our apartment at La Rambla, we headed out to Bar Lobo which is just round the corner. The host at our apartment raved about this place, saying it’s one of the best cafes in Barcelona and we were so excited about it! The Spanish are so friendly and the service here was so good! Very impressed. And of course, the food was absolutely fantastic (and probably the best we had throughout our stay in Barcelona). Tapas and Paella for lunch! We stayed in the heart of the city near La Rambla and the experience was really good! It’s convenient to travel around from here, and it’s near the metro station too. Plus there are like tons of shopping available all …
PARIS II
Before I begin on my travelogue, I want to share more about the PandaQuest competition that is super cute and meaningful! Amidst all the rave about Kai Kai and Jia Jia coming to Singapore, there is another Panda-related competition that caught my attention! The Chengdu Pambassador Program is looking for animal-lovers, environmental conservationists and travel enthusiasts! And their ultimate goal is to raise awareness about conservation of pandas and to return the pandas to the wild! Those who become Chengdu Pambassadors will have the unique opportunity to tour the world over five to six months, and visit the pandas in zoos around the world. Chengdu Pambassadors will start in Chengdu, pass through Asia, Europe, the Americas, Australia and return back to China. In each city, Chengdu Pambassadors will work with the zoo and engage with the local community to promote panda conservation. The Chengdu Pambassadors will also receive a US$20k stipend each as well as all travel and accommodation expenses covered! Want to do your part to contribute towards the conservation of these cute fluffy …
Paris I
It was one of my greatest wish to travel to Europe when I was in university. I was always green with envy when I hear friends travelling to Europe for their graduation trips etc. In a nutshell, I just really wanted to go check out Europe for myself, and Paris in particular, is one of the cities I am dying to visit. Other than the world renowned Eiffel Tower, Montmartre in Paris is also on my bucket list. A and I didn’t make it to Montmartre on our previous trip because our trip was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances. But this time round, we finally made it there! Montmartre! The place where Amélie Poulain lived and worked in! *beams* We got our apartment from a Bed&Breakfast website and it is just couple stops away from the main Montmartre area. We picked the location because it was near the flea markets and we both loved flea markets! And according to the research we did, the area we stayed at has the biggest flea market in …
Munich | Austria
It came as a little surprise when I was told that we would be crossing the borders and heading over to Salzburg, Austria! The first place we came to was Mirabell Garden where the film Sound of Music was filmed in the 60s. Quite sadly, my childhood was quite ching chong so I didn’t watch the show when I was younger. But I do remember snippets of the show, especially those classic scenes from videos I’ve watched over the years. Here are some pictures of the beautiful Mirabell Garden! The steps where the children in the movie sang “Do Re Mi” on! :p Our guide was this really cute Austrian lady named Ruth. The city was somewhat divided into two by the river. I have to say the atmosphere on the two sides is so different! The view on the connecting bridge was breathtaking too. And the buskers made the walking around extra enjoyable too! There are Mozart related souvenirs everywhere because this place is where Amadeus Mozart was born! And this was his birth …
Munich I
I am finally back from the days of being internet-less! This Europe trip felt really different from the previous one but it was just as good if not better. It was a rather last-minute decision because it was actually A’s company retreat getaway trip. They were going to Munich and she thought it would be great if we could tag along, and leave Munich on our own to finish off what we missed out from our previous Europe trip. We came back about a week in advance from our previous trip there because of my grandmother’s demise. And it felt like we have came one full circle after we finally finished up what we set out to do in the first place. We visited Munich, Austria (for a day), Paris and Barcelona this time round. I must say I am very proud that we managed to spend very little on this trip (muahaha!). I am really poor now. REALLY POOR! Need to start working my ass off again! Nuff of whining! 😀 Here are some …
