It was one of my greatest wish to travel to Europe when I was in university.
I was always green with envy when I hear friends travelling to Europe for their graduation trips etc.
In a nutshell, I just really wanted to go check out Europe for myself, and Paris in particular,
is one of the cities I am dying to visit.
Other than the world renowned Eiffel Tower, Montmartre in Paris is also on my bucket list.
A and I didn’t make it to Montmartre on our previous trip because our trip was cut short due to unforeseen circumstances.
But this time round, we finally made it there!
Montmartre! The place where Amélie Poulain lived and worked in! *beams*
We got our apartment from a Bed&Breakfast website and it is just couple stops away from the main Montmartre area.
We picked the location because it was near the flea markets and we both loved flea markets!
And according to the research we did, the area we stayed at has the biggest flea market in the whole of Europe!
The excited A and I woke up nice and early on our first day in Montmartre! 😀
I’m wearing my new top from Runway Bandits!
Totally loving this blue top (which reminds me of the SCGS uniform btw) and the quality is superb!
I insisted on just wearing this out although it was pretty chilly. Typical 爱水麦命! Hahaha.
The walk to the flea markets was really fun!
Cafes, local schools and some little cute restaurants.
The area we lived in has quite a number of immigrants so it is pretty interesting to see another side of Paris.
Very different from the glam and lavish Paris we were used to during our last trip.
The area was quite cheap and there are lots of supermarkets all around.
The things here are significantly cheaper than town area too. Good for us pauper-style travellers. Heh!
This place is heaven for people who loves cute furnitures, antiques or interesting knick knacks!
So nice but soooo expensive! *faints*
And of course, the mighty Sir Antonio made an appearance too! :p
A is wearing her mighty blue blazer (which totally suits her!) from Runway Bandits too!
We love the blazers from there so much we got the blazer in a total of 4 colours! Hahaha.
The flea markets has so much to offer and so many things to see!
But it is quite different from how we envisioned it before we got there.
So we ended the flea market tour earlier than expected and headed straight to Montmartre! *thrilled*
We took a train to Pigalle station which is just a couple stops away.
The whole Montmartre area is on a hill so there are slopes all around.
But it’s really pretty! And we regretted not staying in this area immediately as soon as we set eyes on Montmartre!
We did our homework and had a printout of the route to take for a walking tour around the Montmartre area.
And A is our tour guide of the day! *applause*
And I wore my terribly crumpled top in the very beautiful Montmartre.
Very upset there is no iron in our apartment!!!!
Am loving my shoes from Soeurs too! Thanks dearest Jayne Tham Tham!! ❤
Montmartre is BEEEAAAUUUUTIFUL! Probably one of my favourite place in Paris now!
I really love the vibes this place give me. Very Parisian and I totally dig it!
Please enjoy the photos as I bring you on a little tour and see Montmartre through my eyes. ❤
I LOVE THESE STOCKINGS! (Guess which pair I bought!)
Adorable little Picasso, Dali and Frida finger puppets! Too cute too cute!
Place du Tertre – the little square where all the artists gathered.
And we finally arrived at the gorgeous La Basilique du Sacré Coeur!
The view is just spectacular!!
– BLURP! –
We revisited Sacré Coeur the following day so I’ll just throw the pictures in here.
(Because I bought A a super touristy poncho to make sure the rain doesn’t get to her and she looked really cute!)
– END OF BLURP! –
We also dropped by this cabaret which is frequented by a lot of famous artists who lived in Montmartre in the past.
This place often appeared in many of their paintings too!
What a quaint little building!
The whole place is pretty much like a little historic tour.
There are many of such signs around to tell the history and story behind special houses or special corners in Montmartre.
It’s really cool when we imagined that we are actually walking on the cobble stones that famous people like Picasso, Monet, Van Gogh once set foot on!
Damn those horrible vandals!
And more pictures. 😀
AND THE TWO WINDMILLS CAFE! Amelie!!!
I skipped and hopped like a child when I saw the cafe and I couldn’t contain my excitement!
Kept grinning to myself like an idiot because I could see Amelie walking around the cafe in my head. Hahahaha.
Amelie is my favourite film! I think I must have watched it like 15, 16 times!
In the toilet where Georgette made out with Joseph. :p
There are pictures of Amelie’s Dad’s gnome all over the world too!
Tourists will always be tourists.
We had their signature Amelie creme brulee! Heh.
Sir Antonio approves of this place too! 😀
And no Montmartre trip is complete with pictures of the Moulin Rouge.
It didn’t impress me much, this Moulin Rouge.
We saw this erotica museum in the area and decided to check it out.
It’s pretty interesting – especially the area where they showcased how the Pigalle area was like almost a century ago!
Didn’t know Mona Lisa had such huge boobies.
Pictures of real inhabitants of Pigalle in the thirties.
Hope you liked your little tour around Montmartre!
Will continue with the rest of my Europe trip in my upcoming blog entries.
Before I go, just thought I’ll put in some updates of what I’ve been up to since I got back!
The happiest and biggest news is Mini Ong aka Baby Rykiel Ong has finally arrived!
We arrived in Singapore at 4pm and quickly rushed to the hospital at 7 plus to see her!
Congratulations Mommy Rossie and Daddy Roy!
And welcome, our dearest Rykiel! We love you! 😀
She is such a bundle of joy!
A kept insisting that she wants to be called Aileen Jiejie and not Auntie Aileen. Hahaha.
快快快高长大,WE LOVE YOU! ❤
xxx
I was invited to the Johnnie Walker Circuit Lounge party at Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay too.
And decided to hit the party with A and her folks!
They are such a fun bunch!
Hopefully I can bring my happening Mom to parties soon too! Heh.
Love this crazy photo also. Hahaha!
I also went to the new hair sponsor, Shunji Matsuo and had some hair coloring and cut done too!
Decided to cut the back really short and have it colored red after discussion with my stylist Jerry.
Next time then show you how it turned out.
BYE! Hahaha.
