Choupinette

It has been some time since I had a decent brunch at a nice cafe.
And seeing all the pictures of Eggs Benedicts and Eggs Florentines on my Instagram,
I’m itching for one too!

After doing some research online, A and I decided to drop by Choupinette.
A told me her last time there was a whooping 7 years ago!
SEVEN YEARS!
She was only 18 years old back then, so high class leh.
I think I eat brunches in food courts when I’m 18 years old! Heh.

We chatted with the servers and found out that Choupinette has already been around for a decade!
It’s a nice little place – not too many seats and I can imagine it being packed to the brim on Sunday mornings.
I mean, it was around 1pm on Wednesday afternoon and it was already quite crowded in there.
Note to self: Remember to make reservations in advance on weekends!

We got a seat near the windows, I always liked seats with a lot of daylight.
The decor is pretty simple – European with a Singaporean twist.
I like that funky lights at the ceiling though! :p

They also sell breads at the side of the cafe.
Many different kinds of bread!
I didn’t buy any back to try because I was heading elsewhere after brunch, but the breads look very fresh!

Somehow the look and feel of the menu doesn’t really sit complement the other aspects of the cafe. 😡

Aileen ordered an Eggs Florentine (poached egg with spinach)
Trust me, she has been thinking about Eggs Florentine for days!
As for me, I just had to choose the Eggs Royal (poached egg with smoked salmon) because I love salmon!
They have set meals with the eggs items and each set comes with
a glass of fruit juice (of your choice) and coffee, tea or hot chocolate.
The price for each set ranges from about $18 to $21, if I remember correctly.
Pretty value for money considering the beverages they throw in.

We also ordered a soup of the day at $9.
We got carrots soup for today, comes with hot bread and butter too!

And this is how A looks like when she is waiting for her food. Heh!
*fantacizing about her Eggs Florentine*

The silly girl was so excited about her food!
This is the face with REAL happiness oozing. Hahaha.

Check out her beautiful Eggs Florentine and hot chocolate!

I really much preferred my Eggs Royal though.
We were discussing about our food and we decided that if there was a combination of Florentine and Royal,
it would be perfect.
We would call it Eggs Tranny – because Florentine is female and Royal sounds like a dude.
Hahaha!

IT IS YUMMY!

They used a baguette (if I’m not wrong) instead of an English muffin
but it was still very good because the bread was really fresh!
The eggs were not too sour (they normally poach eggs in water and vinegar)
but the egg yolk is a little too cooked for my liking.
Wish it was a little runnier!
On the whole, still very awesome!
The Hollandaise sauce was quite nice too by the way. :p

They also serve wine and champagne and stuff, so it’s a nice place to chill and hang out with friends.
Servers are really friendly too!
Only worry is that it could be a little too crowded during the weekends.

*My goodness my hair is so messy. I need a haircut!*
The bill came up to about $50 plus.
We stepped out of Choupinette happy and VERY full! Heh.

If you are interested in getting your brunch there too, here are some details about the cafe.
They serve the breakfast sets until 5pm.
