2019 Skin Goals

2019 has just begun and I have high hopes for this year. Just like many of you, I have lots of goals on my list since it’s January. I’ve learnt that it is more encouraging and optimistic to set short term goals to keep track of my progress and keep myself perked up. It serves as a constant reminder of my ultimate goal too. Small steps – like getting sufficient sleep, having positive thoughts, maintaining an active lifestyle, learning how to manage stress and anxiety. These all would help me achieve my goal of being a better version of myself. I read somewhere that the quality of one’s life is directly related to the quality of one’s thoughts, words, sleep, fitness, purpose, environment, relationships and diet. We are what we eat – and that is why I have been paying more attention on my food choices and diet of late, be it for health or beauty. I’ve been reading about skincare and collagen recently and did a little research about collagen supplements. Firmness, plumpness and …

Travelling With Prima Taste

Fun fact 1: I once brought a Chinese cabbage from Singapore to Paris. I hid it in my haversack (ok, I did not hide, I just packed it along) and it travelled with me from Singapore to Munich and Austria before finally getting cooked into a delicious Asian-style soup in Paris, Montmartre. I love Wong Bok. I love Asian food. One biggest headache for me when I travel is Chinese food, or rather, the lack of. Fun face 2: I am actually quite a Scrooge when it comes to food while I’m travelling. This is especially so when I’m in Europe. Firstly because the food there is expensive and its standard is not as high as the price. Secondly, I am often on quite a shoestring budget and I’d really rather spend my money elsewhere. Fun fact 3: Although I co-own a café, I can’t cook to save my life. – – – This is a common sight at the bnb when I travel: In Paris with friends… In Rome with my family… Just look …

Butter My Buns

And so the new journey begins, and the journey is called Butter My Buns. This is exactly like our sleep-deprived days slightly more than 2 years ago when The Tiramisu Hero was just starting up. Now, sitting in our new lil space, it really feels like pretty amazing to realise that we’ve done it yet again. Compared to the previous setup, Butter My Buns was actually a lot less stressful. The experience we got from setting up the previous cafe gave us good insights into what to do, what not to do while designing and planning the space, the timeline, the interiors and our menus. And I really count my blessings everyday for the good people we have in our company. Really, we would be nothing if not for the immense amount of support we have from our colleagues, friends and family. Although Butter My Buns is just a really tiny store snugged in a corner of NUS, it is now our second baby. You must now be thinking “What kind of name is Butter …

Drink Milk Fresh!

Ask me about fresh milk. When I was preparing for the opening of my café, I sampled so many different kinds of fresh milk available in the Singapore market, now I can name the brand just by drinking a sip. Heh! Not that amazing yet, but I have a pretty good idea what are the better brands that we can trust. (And which one tastes better with a good espresso shot) :p When tasked to educate my readers about the importance of freshness of milk, I am proud and thrilled because I know how crucial it is to choose good quality and fresh dairy products. But before I begin, I think we should all know the importance of drinking fresh milk!

Ki-Sho

For a start, I would like to publicly proclaim my love for these black and white houses. They are SO pretty! Dinner last night was at Ki-Sho, a fine Japanese restaurant along Scotts Road. But before I tempt you to death with the pictures of the food they serve, I would like to thank ROOM Apparel for gifting me my current fave jacket! Love the use of two different fabrics. Love the cut. Love the fit! ROOM is giving 20% discount to their items (excludes consignment items) right now, just quote SIXPEGS. 🙂 Thank you Caely from Shunji Matsuo 313 for the cut and colour too! Totally digging it, big time!

BLINK Mints

I spy, I spy. I spied some free mints at The Tiramisu Hero Café. All thanks to BLINK mints, the customers at our café can now sample some mints while waiting for their meals or after their dinners! 😀 The mints came in huge cartons and I spent a good 10-15 mins looking for a nice container for these super YUMMY mints! I settled for this cute mini sack (which is also available for sale at our café’s retail corner), and the mints look super cute in it at the counter! I get a lot of customers asking me where they can buy those mints (while some just grab handfuls of them and put into their bags; I can see you although I’m making coffee, you know. Haha!).
