This week has been awesome because it was A’s birthday on Monday and I finally got my well deserved “time out”!
It is A’s 27th birthday this year and as we were all settled for a quiet celebration at the cafe,
her entire family appeared at the cafe at midnight with her homemade birthday cake
and annual home cooked Mee Suah!
So much love!
With A’s family and Maliboo!
Our most beloved kitchen crew (and best friends) who worked so hard for us.
A’s Mom baked a lovely Red Velvet cake for her. ❤
And as we thought this is going to be the end of her birthday celebrations,
we received an invitation from AirAsia to be part of their inaugural direct flight to Krabi!
It was my first time to Krabi, first time taking an inaugural flight and virgin flight with AirAsia,
I have to say my experience with them was really pleasant and memorable!
The checking-in process was one of the fastest I have experience so far and we got to skip the long lines
with their automated self help check-in systems.
I think we only took about 2 minutes to check both of us in!
We ended up at the departure gate a lot earlier than expected and I’m glad we did
because the AirAsia team made the departure area into a little “carnival”!
There were mocktails for the guests, airbrush tattoos, friendship bands and other activities to set everyone in the holiday mood! 😀
The flight was great despite the slight delay.
I was specially impressed with the inflight meals provided too!
They were so good they looked like they were taken off some famous local hawker stall! :D”
Our home for the next two days was at the gorgeous Mercure Krabi Deevana Resort in Ao Nang area.
I was blown away the moment I set foot in the resort.
“Now we’re talking, looks like I’m in for a good vacation in a 5-star resort!”
Hehehe!
We got a gorgeous Deluxe room with direct access to the pool –
just walk right out of the balcony and you get straight to the pool. Isn’t that awesome? 😀
And the shadows on the ripples were really pretty every morning! :p
There is also a cute beach bag in every room for guests to just grab and go whenever they need to hit the beach.
No more sandy bags and lack-of-good-beach-towels problem solved!
As for food, there is a lot to choose from from their international fare.
I like my “Asian” breakfast and A like her “Western” one.
The “Ask the kitchen for your nice crispy bacon” sign still tickles me. :p
The resort is just a 5 mins drive away from Ao Nang town area and
they also offer scheduled shuttle bus rides to take their guests out to town.
Why does it look like East Coast Park in this next picture? Hahaha.
Can I just say, for the record, I LOVE thai food and there’s something weird about A and I is that
we can eat the same thing every single day and not get sick of it.
Hahahaha!
Fried Rice Noodles and Tom Yum Goong. That’s all we need. 🙂

Thank you AirAsia.com so much for the much-needed vacation and of course,
for offer direct flights to Krabi on top of the current Phuket and Bangkok from now on!
Now I’m all well rested and all ready to work my ass off again. :p
