Coming out

I’d recently learnt of the Take Action! Contest by Oogachaga. It’s a contest which invites all individuals or groups who aspire to make a positive difference to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning community in Singapore to submit an original idea for their own programme. And this inspired me to tell you about my story. I once heard a saying that goes “The naked truth is always better than the best dressed lie”. Although we all know that the truth is not always rosy and nice, living in a lie would probably be the most depressing and unhappy thing I can imagine. I had lived in denial for certain things in life before, but when it comes to realizing who I am and coming to terms with my sexuality, I am proud I took the courage to embrace and accept who I am inside. A and I have been together for about a year and a half now. Looking back, it all still feels surreal about how we evolved from schoolmates who only kept …

Life Gets Better Tomorrow

Tonight, I felt inclined to share my thoughts and feelings about my personal life. Some people might call me brave. Some people might call me stupid; because hereforth, I will be labelled as different. When my friends mention me to their friends, I would probably be described as “gay”. If you are one of few, thank you. Someone once told me that straight people are just lucky because they belong to the majority. Putting aside who is in the majority and who is not, have you ever thought about why most of us think that being straight is normal while being gay is not? Who decides what is normal and what is not? The society? The society and our …

Not-So-Hollywood

I am a self-proclaimed movie buff. If you haven’t checked out my 2 other blog entries about my favourite movies and based on true story movies, you are in luck because that would mean you will have 3 new blog entries to read today! I just watched Drive starring Ryan Gosling yesterday night. It took me a while to understand why it was voted the best movie from 2011. But after discussing with A, we both agreed that the movie was tastefully done, and the development of the plot was smooth and comfortable. Seeing Ryan Gosling’s buff physique packed under his thin white tee was cool too. Haha! My hands are itching again to share another ten movies that I think everyone should watch at least once in their lives. In no particular order of credit, here are the ten awesome movies that I think you might love! ONE Memento is one movie that really blew me off my chair. Made in 2000, this movie is actually shown backwards. Although this show is all about …
