I have been a slave to The Tiramisu Cafe for the last 3 weeks.
How is it like having my very own cafe?
SHAGGED!
Now looking back at the old pictures I took since the first screw was put into the cafe,
I have nothing but lots of thanks to the people who contributed to building this space together.
I would say, this place is built with a lot of love, by people who really wanted this to work.
Friends, family, work partners, sponsors – I think we have a great team of people behind the building of The Tiramisu Hero Cafe.
A and I chanced upon 121 Tyrwhitt Road when we were cruising around one night
(with the purpose of looking for a place suitable for a cafe) and it felt right the moment we set eyes on it.
There are a couple of people who asked us why we wanted to set up our flagship in Jalan Besar –
some say it’s a bit secluded and that this area can be a little “sleazy” at night.
But it just felt right and we really loved this space!
The best thing is, I think we have some really nice neighbors here like Windowsill Pie and resident florist, 1 Hour Florist.
Both of them came by during the first few days we were opened and gave us a warm welcome to the neighborhood.
Feel so loved and welcomed! 😀
OK sorry I digressed.
I think the first thing that catches people’s eyes when they walk into our cafe is the doodling all over the “ceiling cap”.
We wanted to have doodles all over the place because it is almost like The Tiramisu Hero’s signature.
But to be honest, the idea of doodling on such a huge area was a little intimidating at first.
(The doodling at our distributor, Grammah took us 2 nights and it was only one wall!)
But thankfully, A and I are blessed with some really kickass awesome friends
who volunteered their muscles without any questions asked!
All the doodles are hand drawn with chalk markers.
Thank God for the invention of projectors – now everyone can draw Sir Antonio like a pro!
Thank you Agnes, Carol, Finn, Sindy and Lianie for all the hard work!
Just a trivia – we actually have all our names hidden in the drawings.
Try searching for them if you ever visit our cafe! :p
I want to take this opportunity to thank Formica for the generous sponsorship of the laminates used in our cafe!
They are like super hardy and the perfect material for the tables and service counter (that will be taking a lot of mishandling).
Hahaha!
A and I were unbelievably thrilled when the signboard finally arrived!
My handwriting is now some signboard leh! 😀 😀 😀
With Kayly from Big Image, our signboard sponsor.
SO YOUNG HOR, THIS LAO BAN NIANG!
Other details of the cafe.
A, when she was still looking a bit more radiant. 😡
Me, when I still had a life. Hahaha!
Yichun, our young and mad efficient and resourceful contractor.
We are really lucky to have Yichun on this project with us.
THANK YOU YICHUN!
Introducing my best friend!
This is the one that kept me alive during the renovation period when I was feeling under the weather
because of the severe lack of sleep.
The biggest Sir Antonio in the cafe, before his eyes were drawn.
Looks kinda demonic. 😡
Another highlight at the cafe would have to be the mega Sir Antonio cat head near the entrance to greet his guests.
This is the main photo point in our cafe and this is good for everybody,
including those who forgot to put makeup or people who can’t smile properly.
Hahaha!
For some reason, I find this particular pose by A exceptionally 欠扁!
His face works for all kinds of body positions man! Hahaha!
And of course, what is a cafe without the food and friendly service staff?
Our pioneer batch of servers were handpicked and it has been such a joy working with them so far. 🙂
I forgot who made this horrible cup of “man with udders” coffee already. Lol.
I think I’ve posted quite a lot of food pictures in the previous posts so
I’ll just put on up for my favourite Truffle Eggs Bacon Roll. Yummy!
Other MUST TRYs at our cafe includes Baked Cheesy Chicken and Savoury Creamy Salmon.
Woohoo!
We also made some “unique” name tags for my staff.
They feedback that there are really customers who called them by these names.
And someone asked “Ngoh Hiang” if that was her real name. LOL!
(She should have said yes and said her Chinese name is Chen Wu Xiang. Hahaha!)
I also brought Mooshka to our cafe (before it was officially opened) after our shoot with Club Pets magazine.

OUR GRAND OPENING
We are officially opened on 28th September 2013, Saturday and it was a noisy affair (good kind of noisy)!
It was a great feeling to see friends and family gather to celebrate the opening of our cafe. 🙂
With Jenny and Darren from 1 Hour Florist!
SUPER friendly and nice people and Jenny is so pretty!!
The Tiramisu Hero’s slaves looking happy! :p
Many many friends and family came by too! Weeee!
Linda orh pi sai also very cute.
With A!
And with Mommy dearest!
And this is taken halfway through our “HUAT AH!” :p
Mommy’s unglam shot.
And Carol with my crazy staff, Melissa.
Thank you Bea too, who came down with her family even though she couldn’t make it for the opening day! 😀
And Lynn who came down with her group of girlfriends!
OK, don’t know where to put these pictures so I’m just gonna add them in here.
Chef chef Agnes with her creation, Chef chef Curry Baked Rice! :D”
This is even more random – myself with Sophie and Moonberry at The New Paper New Face 2013 as judges. 😀
And so the journey begins, countless stressful times, sleepless nights
and unnecessary bickers between A and I over stupid little things awaits.
But with that, I am sure a whole of good things will come along with it.
As starters, I have already met some really nice people around this neighbourhood and even gotten the chance to finally meet some of my blog readers at the cafe!
And something funny – there has unknowingly been an abnormally high number of PLUs in our cafe.
Hahahahaha. I think that’s kinda cool and I love it. :p
In time to come, I hope every single person who walks through our door will feel happy walking out.
We want to be a fun place!
Alrighty, I shall end my verbal vomit with these gorgeous pictures taken by Bobby Kiran Yeo.
Thanks Bobby, for these amazing shots!
Side note, do download this mobile app called CHEEEESE and see the happenings at our cafe and have a good laugh! :p
