Bangkok II

I’m back with more details about my Bangkok trip and more hangouts in the Land of Smiles to recommend! A and I checked in to our second hotel for this trip! I first read about MADUZI Hotel on the internet, and I was blown away by the decor in this hotel, especially their unique bath tubs in all of their rooms! This hotel also views the privacy of their hotel guests importantly. There is no typical check-in counter in this hotel, all paper work are done in your rooms. And the moment you enter the hotel, it just feels like home! There is no crowd around any counters, you don’t see a lot of guests walking around too because there is only slightly more than 40 rooms in there. The hotel do not take guest reservations over the counter, so only prior reservations are accepted. The gates to the hotel are almost always closed too, so you don’t get random strangers streaming in and out. I like it! We were allocated a room on the …

War Against Varicose

That picture above serves to attract your attention because I know everyone loves to look at and want to have killer legs. It also aims to make you feel incompetent because your legs don’t look like those in the picture above. But fret not, because most of us don’t have those legs! Before I begin, I have to emphasize that this is not an advertorial for any brands. Haha! Alright. The whole story started when A commented that the veins at the back of my knees are very obvious. She called them “a little bit scary”. I do not want to come across as being scary in any way so I decided to do a little research on those impending varicose veins. Something random. I used to think that those nasty looking veins are called “VERY COARSE VEINS”, well, because they are really very coarse. I feel a little ridiculed when I realized that they were actually spelt “varicose veins”. Why can’t they just make it easier and call them “very coarse veins”? Heh! They …

Bangkok I

I AM FINALLY BACK! The recent Bangkok trip has been great. It was supposed to be a 7 day trip, but due to some last minute decisions, we extended our trip and it became a 11 days one. It was my first time staying in Bangkok for so many days. And as to why I was there for such a long time, I shall reveal it in my next post! 🙂 For now, I just wanna share some of the places I visited in Bangkok and also a nice hotels I stayed in when I was there. If you’re reading this now and will be travelling to Bangkok soon, hope it would be of some help in your itinerary planning too! We tried out two hotels in this trip and both were absolutely fantastic – different and unique in their own ways. The first boutique hotel we visited was TENFACE Hotel at Phloen Chit area. This cosy little hotel has about slightly under 90 rooms so it is a great choice for us because we …

K ki Cafe

A and I will be on our way to our first Bangkok trip together. I did some research on where to go and what to eat, and I was devastated when I realized that Suan Lom Night Market is gone! I used to like that place so much despite the expensive food, etc. After reading some forums and travel sites, I found a couple other night markets! One is called Rod Fai, another one called Ratchada Lad Phrao Night Market. I heard they sell a lot of vintage and 2nd hand stuff. Got no idea how we can get there though, if you have any idea or have been there, please share some information! We would really appreciate it! As for accommodation, we’ll be checking out two hotels – TENFACE and MADUZI Hotel. I’m thrilled! For now, let me share this new cafe we visited at Ann Siang Hill. It’s called K ki and within the same space, you can also find The Little Dröm Store which sells a lot of cute knick knacks, clothes …

Little Part 1

A was excited and smiling sheepishly this afternoon when she told me there is a place she wants to bring me. When I asked her where it was, she blurted it out, then after giving it a second thought, told me she won’t tell me and that I should check it out for myself. And so the car took us to the familiar Upper Thomson area. It passed by the usual stretch where all the cafes we visit are located and went by Thomson Plaza. Before I know it, we pulled over outside a quaint little cafe named Little Part 1 Cafe. What an odd name for a cafe. The name of the cafe was spelt out clearly like how they did it in old school movie theaters. “Little Part 1” makes me wonder if there is a Part 2 or Part 3 somewhere else in Singapore. I guess it’s a good name if the owners are looking at opening up more branches in future! Heh. The cafe is not very big but it has …

Dim Sum @ Thomson

Before I begin on my newfound Dim Sum haunt at Upper Thomson Road, let me show you my iPad case! I’ve been looking around for the perfect iPad case after I bought my new toy but to no avail. Then A and I decided, “Why not make it ourselves!” So, here is our very own iPad case! We started out with the doing paper mache for one full night! And to make sure the surface is not too bumpy, we sticked cardboards onto the bumpy surfaces. And picked a fabric we like from Chinatown! We also pasted a piece of magnet on one of the sides. We also bought iron on alphabets! Velvety ones. I love it! The insides of the case was made with oil painting paper. The black elastic band can also make sure the case is snug when closed. And ironed on “P”! I know it’s crooked. Make me very angry! Damn. We are still looking for a black tape to paste on the spine to give it an old school notebook …

Best iPad Apps

I just got my very own iPad two days ago & I’m totally in love with it. Many thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks to A for the wonderful present! And after I got everything set up, I went ahead to do my app shopping. Here are some of the awesome apps I have on my iPad (and some on iPhone as well). Some of you have been asking me which app I’ve been using for the photos in my previous blog entry, I’ve shared that AMAZING app in here too. Here is a header I made, decorated with pictures from my Instagram! Follow me on Instagram if you haven’t! Hope you guys love it! O N E FLIPBOARD This is where you can combine Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr and other stuff into one app. The presentation is absolutely gorgeous too with the pictures displayed in a magazine format. I always dislike how you cannot scroll the pictures in the Instagram app (can only see them in thumbnails and click one by one). Well, with this app, …

Mustard is the new yellow.

This week has been a rather busy one and I apologize for my week-long disappearance. A’s granny was not well and was admitted into the hospital. Hope she gets better soon. The visit to the hospital reminds me a lot of the times when I visited my own granny in the hospital. I don’t really like that place. My Mom is overseas in China & that means that I’ll have to look after Maliboo 24/7 throughout the week. That also means that Boo has been spending a lot of time with the three cats in A’s bedroom. Haha! So to reward her and let her feel slightly better about life (lol), we brought her to a dog cafe. Happy Daze is located in Serangoon, they not only serve drinks and bar grub, there is also a menu for the little furkids! And the really nice part is, even if you didn’t order anything for your dogs, they will also readily bring out a doggie bowl so that the doggies can get their supply of fresh …

Old School Delights

I have heard a lot about Old School Delights! Every time we drive by Upper Thomson Road, A would say “Hey wanna go Old School Delights?” Hahaha! And yes, we finally made our way there earlier this week. I have to say that this place put a smile on my face as soon as I stepped into the cafe. There are lots of stuff that reminds me of my childhood days! Here are some pictures to give you a virtual tour of the place if you haven’t been there before! I LOVE that huge blackboards! I want to have a HUGE blackboard in my future home too! 😀 There are toys and other stuff on sale. Also a lot of old books that you can read or browse through when you’re having a meal. This is a perfect place to have lunch alone because there are so many things around to keep you occupied. They serve cakes, and other Asian food like Mee Siam, Macaroni Soup with Shredded Chicken, etc. I like how we can …

First Of The Gang

Thursday afternoon. Scorching hot sun. The fly hovers around aimlessly. I am in my room. The bright blue rug that I once loved has been rolled up and tucked in a corner. My room smells of sleep, Maliboo and cigarettes. My table is messy with useless vouchers, receipts, an unused fork and stickers I use to decorate my polaroids. My love is lying on my bed next to my dog. My love is looking at her phone. My dog is looking at me. I am looking at my screen, trying to put the next blog post together. I hope you guys are all coping with Thursday well so far! Friday is here and it is a public holiday! I did a video of amateur me singing First Of The Gang by Zee Avi on Wah Pen Pen yesterday. I hope it will make your day better if you’re having a not-so-good time. First Of The Gang Zee Avi You have never been in love till you’ve seen the star reflect in the reservoirs And you …
