Vanilla Cafe

A and I checked out this little bar & cafe at Boon Tat Street yesterday. It was a nice little place with friendly (but somewhat strange, I’ll get to that later) waitresses. And the best thing is, we were the only ones there when we were there! It is a clean and bright place that looks relatively welcoming. The two young waitresses who were there that afternoon were pleasant and cheerful too! The decor was simple but it works for me, I especially liked the little outdoor area at the back of the cafe. But because it was a little too warm, we chose to dine indoors. The choices on the menu all looked very attractive! They serve mostly Western food with a bit of Japanese twist. I like how they have pictures in the menu too. Sorry. Pet peeve when it comes with menu with no pictures. Ahem. Oh! For people who loves all day breakfast, Vanilla can now join your list of “breakfast cafes” too! Hope you can get an idea of the …

Choupinette

It has been some time since I had a decent brunch at a nice cafe. And seeing all the pictures of Eggs Benedicts and Eggs Florentines on my Instagram, I’m itching for one too! After doing some research online, A and I decided to drop by Choupinette. A told me her last time there was a whooping 7 years ago! SEVEN YEARS! She was only 18 years old back then, so high class leh. I think I eat brunches in food courts when I’m 18 years old! Heh. We chatted with the servers and found out that Choupinette has already been around for a decade! It’s a nice little place – not too many seats and I can imagine it being packed to the brim on Sunday mornings. I mean, it was around 1pm on Wednesday afternoon and it was already quite crowded in there. Note to self: Remember to make reservations in advance on weekends! We got a seat near the windows, I always liked seats with a lot of daylight. The decor is …

Kombi Rocks

I am thrilled about this place the moment I heard about it. And I have to thank Cheryl for such a great recommendation! For those of you who doesn’t know yet, Kombi is actually the name of this type of vehicle shown in the banner above. One of the prettiest designs from Volkswagen, if you ask me! Kombi Rocks is not just any other cute cafe! Other than the “Diner” branch, they also have the “Rides” branch where they have cute vintage vehicles for hire. Whether you’re planning for a photoshoot, wedding or just for a joyride, you can get them! Imagine a wedding with such a cute ride, too cute. That’s us on our way to Kombi Rocks! It’s situated on Yio Chu Kang Road, nearer to the Serangoon side. That’s really close to A’s place and we are thrilled to have discovered another cute cafe to hang out at near home. 🙂 [Yes we bought those old school snacks to eat. WE LOVE!] It is hard to miss this place. There would always …

Five & Dime

Hello girls! I’m back to show my little trip to another cafe. This time round, it’s to Five & Dime at River Valley. It was a little date for A and I after a busy week and I really love it! I’m wearing my new top from Adan y Eva! I love the top, other than the lovely nude colors that works for me all the time, the quality is super good too! (No need to iron! Hehe!) There is plenty of parking area around the cafe, but that’s probably we visited the cafe during the off-peak hours too. The cafe looks really cute from the outside! I like the colors of the building and how it looks! We got a seat near the main entrance. The design of the place mats on the table is really cute too. Tastefully done! To be honest, I was expecting to see a huge place because the cafe looks quite big on their Facebook Page. There are about less than 15 tables in the cafe but thankfully, they …

K ki Cafe

A and I will be on our way to our first Bangkok trip together. I did some research on where to go and what to eat, and I was devastated when I realized that Suan Lom Night Market is gone! I used to like that place so much despite the expensive food, etc. After reading some forums and travel sites, I found a couple other night markets! One is called Rod Fai, another one called Ratchada Lad Phrao Night Market. I heard they sell a lot of vintage and 2nd hand stuff. Got no idea how we can get there though, if you have any idea or have been there, please share some information! We would really appreciate it! As for accommodation, we’ll be checking out two hotels – TENFACE and MADUZI Hotel. I’m thrilled! For now, let me share this new cafe we visited at Ann Siang Hill. It’s called K ki and within the same space, you can also find The Little Dröm Store which sells a lot of cute knick knacks, clothes …

Little Part 1

A was excited and smiling sheepishly this afternoon when she told me there is a place she wants to bring me. When I asked her where it was, she blurted it out, then after giving it a second thought, told me she won’t tell me and that I should check it out for myself. And so the car took us to the familiar Upper Thomson area. It passed by the usual stretch where all the cafes we visit are located and went by Thomson Plaza. Before I know it, we pulled over outside a quaint little cafe named Little Part 1 Cafe. What an odd name for a cafe. The name of the cafe was spelt out clearly like how they did it in old school movie theaters. “Little Part 1” makes me wonder if there is a Part 2 or Part 3 somewhere else in Singapore. I guess it’s a good name if the owners are looking at opening up more branches in future! Heh. The cafe is not very big but it has …

Old School Delights

I have heard a lot about Old School Delights! Every time we drive by Upper Thomson Road, A would say “Hey wanna go Old School Delights?” Hahaha! And yes, we finally made our way there earlier this week. I have to say that this place put a smile on my face as soon as I stepped into the cafe. There are lots of stuff that reminds me of my childhood days! Here are some pictures to give you a virtual tour of the place if you haven’t been there before! I LOVE that huge blackboards! I want to have a HUGE blackboard in my future home too! 😀 There are toys and other stuff on sale. Also a lot of old books that you can read or browse through when you’re having a meal. This is a perfect place to have lunch alone because there are so many things around to keep you occupied. They serve cakes, and other Asian food like Mee Siam, Macaroni Soup with Shredded Chicken, etc. I like how we can …

Papa Palheta

I think I am addicted to checking out new cafes and pretty chill-out places. So here is another one to add to your ‘MUST GO’ cafes! And indeed, the ‘most important drink of your day’ is probably your cuppa coffee. A’s friend brought us to this cute little cafe couple days back and we were blown away! Tucked in a little corner along Bukit Timah Road, it’s like a breath of fresh air the moment you lay eyes on this place. It is quite hidden so it’s not visible from the main roads, but hey, that also means that it’s quieter and more peaceful in here! This place has a strange aura that makes it really welcoming. The people round here are all really friendly and smiley! According to A, a seasoned coffee drinker, the coffee served here are really good. From what I gathered, the coffee beans used at Papa Palheta are all roasted right there in the cafe! There is a special room where all the roasting takes place. The roasting takes place …

The Coastal Settlement

I don’t know about you, but I am one of those few Singaporeans who are quite not-cool when it comes to being informed about the new hip cafes or restaurants in town. Most of the time, I’m normally the one being brought around to check out new places. And I wish to change that! Hahaha. I visited two new places, one was recommended by an Instagram follower and the other was recommended by a friend. Absolutely loved this two new places because I’m such a big sucker for cute decor. Hope you will like them too! When I first heard that it is ALL the way in the East at Loyang area, I was quite turned off. But I guess being far away from the bustling city makes this place more attractive! I liked the place the moment I saw it. Quiet, quaint and the decor is pretty but not over the top. A lot of greens and Beetles all over the outdoor dining area. But once you set foot into the restaurant itself, it’s …

Skincare & I

I received a couple requests in comments and through the chat box for me to do up an entry about my skincare regime. So here it is, me and many horrible [never seen before] pictures of me with horrible skin. I think I have had a long battle with pimples, pimple scars and dull looking skin. With that, I would like to say that I am really not someone born with fabulous skin. At many times, it was makeup or just good photography that helped concealed my flaws. Today, I’m gonna show you some scary photos of myself. Hopefully, you would still read my website after you’re done with this entry! Hahaha. Alright, to be fair, I think I was born with average skin. Occasional pimples, dull areas around the nose & mouth and dark eye rings (what else)? Bleah. But to make things worse, the modelling and mad craze for new and many cosmetics and makeup products made my skin worse. And I think my worst nemesis was liquid foundation. No offence to anyone …
