Teetheehee

It’s a Friday night. We’ve got nowhere to go, and nothing to do.

We ended up home early and as A was playing Wii alone, I put on some stupid dentures I bought last year and asked her if she’d still love me if I looked like this…

God Save The Queen

It is always easy to list down the items you have on your Bucket List; easy to tell people around you that one has to live life to the fullest and you have probably read a thousand and one article on Facebook telling you specifically the things to avoid doing (or do) if you don’t want to grow old with regrets. Does living life to the fullest everyday really makes us feel like we have the world? “To live a few years of my life like most people won’t, so that I can live the rest of it like most people can’t.” I have heard this quote once and I find it hard to forget. Often when I find myself slipping away, trying to find excuses for myself so that I can take a little time off from work, I repeat this quote in my head. It makes a lot of sense to me. Except, now I finally realised I’ll need to survive the “living a few years of my life like most people won’t” …

Booked A Haunted Hotel?

Unless you’re a thrill-seeker, most of us would try our best to avoid spending a night in a hotel that’s rumoured to be haunted. So to save you some time the next time you’re booking your hotel, I’ve put up a list of allegedly haunted hotels in a few popular cities around Asia.

Ten Things You Didn’t Know Abt Singapore

Think you are a true blue Singaporean who knows your country well? I am born in Singapore and have been living in Singapore all my life, but there are still so many things to learn from my country. Do you dig fun facts and trivia? If so, I think you’re going to enjoy these little, useless information about our beautiful country! (Image by Sheng Long Lua)

Butter My Buns

And so the new journey begins, and the journey is called Butter My Buns. This is exactly like our sleep-deprived days slightly more than 2 years ago when The Tiramisu Hero was just starting up. Now, sitting in our new lil space, it really feels like pretty amazing to realise that we’ve done it yet again. Compared to the previous setup, Butter My Buns was actually a lot less stressful. The experience we got from setting up the previous cafe gave us good insights into what to do, what not to do while designing and planning the space, the timeline, the interiors and our menus. And I really count my blessings everyday for the good people we have in our company. Really, we would be nothing if not for the immense amount of support we have from our colleagues, friends and family. Although Butter My Buns is just a really tiny store snugged in a corner of NUS, it is now our second baby. You must now be thinking “What kind of name is Butter …

Being Unproductive

We should all try to be unproductive every once in a while. Pick up a paint brush or a calligraphy pen and draw or write something. Listen to music. Listen beyond the voices and the lyrics. Listen to each and every instrument in the piece. Listen to a good song. Write a poem. Or a song that no one will ever get to hear. Give your camera another chance and go out one afternoon just to take pictures of everything and nothing. Sew something. Or perhaps knit. Learn how to play a musical instrument, oh yes! Or a foreign language. At times, when all I can do all day is look at Excel sheets, I really just want to be unproductive and listen to Aubrey by Bread all day.

2014. Gone Soon?

Do you look like death by 8pm too? If so, welcome to the 8pm Zombie Club. As the President of the 8pm Zombie Club, I feel obliged to let you know a little more about how things are like in our club, how you became one of us and what you can do if you want to leave the club. I have been trying some products from Clinicians – Stress & Energy Support and REM Sleep and they have helped me a lot with managing my stress and energy levels during the day and sleep during the night. But before I get to that, I have to stress how hard it is for me to get to sleep every night. I’m a huge insomniac. You will know, if you follow me on Instagram (SIGH). Here at the 8pm Zombie Club, we hardly get enough sleep. There are times (when we feel like we should sleep more), we cannot fall asleep at night. It’s the norm for us to toss and turn around on the bed …

Two Funerals and A Wedding

It will soon be my younger brother’s wedding day in less than a week’s time and everyone at home (i.e. my mom) has been busy for the last few weeks buying wedding stuff, distributing invitation cards, calling and texting friends and relatives to inform everyone about the wedding party, personally doing up the guest list and seating arrangements of the banquet, buying the strange items one might need for a traditional Chinese customary ceremony, basically everything the couple does for a wedding, and amidst all that, doing regular groom’s mom stuff like shopping for new dress and shoes. It gives me mixed emotions when I see my mother like that. As much as a wedding will soon be happening in the family, I can’t feel any happiness or thrill. Instead, I am overwhelmed with frustration and disappointment thinking about how self centered my brother is, how he has done absolutely nothing to help my mother. He is rude to my mother when my mother asks him for his opinion on things or ask him to …
