Lately, I heard something about fairy tales are really just fairy tales.
Not in the way how most girls would complain “there is no such thing as happily ever after“,
but in actual fact that these stories ended with really gruesome endings originally.
I did some research and did a compilation of 10 stories most of us are familiar with.
Most of us grew up reading (or watching) Walt Disney storybooks or movies thinking that one fine day,
some Prince Charming (or Princess, in my case) would pop out of nowhere and love us forever.
I wish they told us these original endings to the so-called fairy tales when we were a little younger.
These stories entertained me so much I feel compelled to share them with everyone I know!
Before I start on my post, I would like to thank blog reader dropletsloves for sharing a list of cafes and other food haunts!
A and I dropped by Grin Affair yesterday and we loved what we found there!
I have to admit that the outlook of the place did put me off for a short while.
I guess that was because I was expecting a nice looking cafe and Grin Affair didn’t fit the mental image I had.
I am so glad we gave the cupcakes a chance though!
It was SO good!
Grin Affair is located in the outskirts of town area at Everton Park.
It was a really nice neighborhood!
To be honest, I was a little appalled when I first arrived at Grin Affairs because I was expecting a cute looking cafe.
But this shop looks just like a very old school hole in the wall.
There aren’t much seats in the shop, and it is quite a small space.
But strangely, I think the simplicity and unpretentious look of Grin Affair made it special!
The interiors look simple and decorated with adorable hand made knick knacks.
Feels just like home.
I did a little research about Grin Affairs before dropping in and all I knew was that they sold “some sort of cupcakes”.
The reviews of the desserts there were all pretty good and I was really looking forward to trying them!
But what I saw on the menu didn’t look like cupcakes at all!
Look! They should be called jarcakes!
SO CUTE!
We couldn’t wait any longer so we ordered one each!
Wish it was a little cheaper though. Heh.
Look at the jarcakes! Very pretty presentation and they tasted fantastic!
It’s really nice how they used fresh ingredients for the desserts. Made hell lot of a difference to the taste!
I tried the strawberry one.
And A picked the durian flavour.
Very yummy & fresh!
It was so good I think I finished mine in less than 10 mouthfuls. :p
I have never tasted anything like this before and was really excited about it!
A’s Mom is a huge fan of baking, so we decided to get her one of the jarcakes to try.
The takeaway packaging is even cuter!
This is the hazelnut flavour by the way.
Here is a link to Grin Affair’s website if you are interested in trying them out too!
Highly recommended!
Screw pretty decor or huge spacious cafes and come here if you want really good cupcakes (or rather, jarcakes)!
I also found out that they also do bulk sales and catering services.
These sweets will look really pretty in parties!
The neighborhood is quiet and really nice to stroll around in!
Here are a couple photos before we headed over to the nearby Duxton Road for dinner.
Duxton Road is just less than 5 minutes drive away.
We wanted to check out more cafes here but only realized that it was a Monday and most of the cafes are closed.
*Boo*
We were lucky enough to spot this Japanese restaurant that looks pretty welcoming.
Man! The tempura was good!
A described them as “fried to perfection”. Hahaha!
xxx
A and I had been busy painting my room for almost 2 full days last week.
As some of you might know, my room was painted in black.
It has been in darkness for the last couple years and I decided to paint it all white this time round!
It took us almost 4 layers of paint to cover up the black.
*sweats*
After seeing the plain white walls, I felt bored because they looked so plain.
So I begged A to help me draw a cube on one of the walls.
I saw this “3D” cube metal frame being sold in one of the furniture shops in town before, and it was really cool.
Look at how our very own 3D cube looks like! :p
A also gave me this crazy idea of scribbling and doodling on another plain white wall!
I thought it was a brilliant idea because I love doodling and have never really doodled on walls before.
SO… We started writing! Heh.
It is really nice to have a little bit of A on my walls. 🙂
It would probably take weeks to fill up the entire wall at the rate we’re going.
But till then, here are some pictures of our progress so far!
A for Aileen my love.
And the TALENT is, of course, ME! Hahaha.
A little bit of Boo on the walls too. Heh!
That “URGH” came about when I accidentally dropped my brush while painting and painted a little black spot on the wall.
So I decided to remember that stupid moment by writing what I exclaimed when the accident happened.
“URGH!”
Hahahaha.
xxx
As for today, I went out with my new top from PaulBevy!
I love the top and it is so comfy to be in.
Thanks so much for the love, PaulBevy!
[OMG I look so much like my Mom in the photo above!]
As for today, it is a special day for me.
It was the first time I did….
ACUPUNCTURE! Hahaha.
I have been having some mild subhealth problems lately so I decided to try out acupuncture.
It was quite an interesting experience.
I shall update more in another post soon! :p
A and I have been crazy about Japanese food of late and I wanna recommend another unassuming ramen shop
that does ramen so well that you might just eat the bowl up as well!
It is called Hachifukumaru at Orchard Point.
They serve ramen with black and red sauce, kinda interesting.
The gyozas there are really juicy and crispy too! YUMMY!
And I shall end this post with some waiting-for-ramen-gross-narcissistic shots.
Be right back with more updates and rambles soon!
It gives me great GREAT pleasure to blog about our best friend Sinsin’s wedding today.
SINSIN IS FINALLY MARRIED!
It has been such a great journey seeing our favourite girl prep for her wedding,
and it is such an honour to be part of LTK and Sinsin’s wedding and part of their life.
The day started with the tricks the “sisters” have prepared for the groom and his gang of brothers!
Toothbrush with wasabi, eating all sort of stuff, balloons, stockings, etc.
Hahahaha!
It’s my second time being a sister this time round!
And the prettiest bride, Sinsin dear!
She always got the funkiest poses ever. Disaster! Hahahaha.
Cute lah cute lah! :p
After a series of phone calls and coordination, we got the news that the groom has finally arrived!
So we brought all our stuff and went downstairs to give them a warm welcome. Heh!
Guess what Min is doing! Hahahaha.
Stockings can be used as paddings also ok! Heh!
Big balls on the boys! Hahahaha.
And the mayhem continues upstairs! (We had to run up to make sure we reach the unit and lock the gates before the boys come up!)
The groom has arrived!
This is the “Please let me in” face! :p
After a lot of hard work, they finally whipped out some ang baos.
BUT ALL OF THEM CONTAINED COUNTERFEIT BILLS!
Win already lor!
That’s LTK reading our what he will promise to do after marriage! Hahaha.
LTK did everything we wanted him to so he get to meet his lovely bride!
Sinsin being wacky again. :p
Sinsin and LTK’s family photo after the tea ceremony. 🙂
We headed over to Dempsey to take a couple pictures before we headed over to LTK’s family.
And here is one picture with A who was with us every step of the way!
Thanks love!
I had to bend my knees awkwardly so I won’t be too much taller 😡
Hahahaha!
And (part of) the sister and brothers gang!
Didn’t have pictures of us at LTK’s house because my camera was kept in my bag most of the time. Heh!
After the morning ceremonies, the girls and I headed out to get our hair done before going to the hotel.
After hair, makeup and putting on the outfit of the day, we are loving our Black & Gold couple look! So it’s CAMWHORE TIME!
Sorry if the pictures are a little blur, they are taken with my cellphone.
We are loving our white teeth!
It feels so good to have all my hair off of my face!
Can I wear my hair like this everyday please!
This is the outfit of the day. Something simple and comfortable!
We prepped the function room with these lovely pompoms I got from Merry Love!
They are available in various sizes and colours so I got some fuchsia, cream and pink ones!
Aren’t they lovely!
Merry Love is actually a wedding preorder site set up to make wedding shopping a whole lot easier!
They have a lot of pretty stuff that they brought in from overseas and I liked these pretty poms immediately.
Too bad I wasn’t in time to get some quirky props they are bringing in for the photobooth!
Check out the props here if you’re looking for props. Damn cute lah!
The solemnization ceremony was held in one of the function rooms in the hotel.
And we were all there nice and early to wait for the arrival of the couple!
Pretty Mommy Rossie and Roy!
The event’s emcees, Liling and Melvyn.
I’m loving A’s look!
Totally dig the gold cuff around her neck!
And the bride arrives!!
This is Sinsin and her gorgeous Mommy!
Tingkang’s parents.
THE MOST SERIOUS MOMENT IN THEIR LIVES!
We all loved Sinsin’s gown and it is proudly sponsored by The Wedding Ateliers!
Their gowns are all handmade and this one Sinsin picked was absolutely gorgeous with details that made it perfect!
Super flattering too! *nosebleed*
It was a really touching moment when Sinsin thanked her Mom for being there for her whenever she needs her.
It moved so many of us to tears. 😥
We are so happy for you dear Sinsin!
I am sure your Mommy is very happy too! LTK will make a great husband and son-in-law!
And finally, Mr & Mrs Lan!
Congratulations!!
And off we go to the ballroom to get busy as the guests started streaming in.
I couldn’t resist the mirrors in the elevator though. :p
Recognize the pompoms on the table?
They are the ones hanging from the ceiling in the solemnization room!
I know, we are so creative right! Hahaha.
It’s good to see some old friends!
Ling is looking as gorgeous as ever! 🙂 *and Peggy needs to lose some weight*
The lovely couple’s march in!
Tingkang also arranged for all of their close friends to do a little surprise video for Sinsin!
It’s pretty funny so I thought I’d share it here as well. :p
The girls and I look a little bit crazy in the video though, so please pardon us. Hahaha!
As the couple gets busy, the peeps on my table started to get busy with the photo taking too. :p
Me and my love!
I’m loving my double cuffs and ring too!
This lovely couple will be wedded in December! Can’t wait, Lianie and Andy!
And some more not-so-glamourous pictures of A and I.
There was a photobooth at the reception area so we headed out to take more pictures!!
Andy looks like a mess here! Hahahahaha!
The girls and me!
Back at the table, I also sneaked a picture with Jerline and Pieling who were on the same table as us!
Why they always look so pretty huh!
And they say this is A’s Ip Man look. Hahaha!
And everyone started fixing their hair right before the bride and groom reaches our table :p
YES! And more photo-taking sessions with the girls!
难得穿得那么漂亮嘛!
HAHAHAHAHA.
The night ended with Sinsin in another gorgeous pink gown from The Wedding Ateliers again!
She was saying it’s the perfect choice because its length it perfect and it’s easy to walk around in it.
I think she looks absolutely gorgeous!
Pink is totally her color.
I can imagine myself looking like a disaster in pink but she pulls it off so well! 😀
PHEW! What a long post!
Hope you guys liked the picture and can feel all of our happiness from the photos!
Sinsin and LTK, congratulations once again and may your lives be filled with love, health and happiness for always!
I am thrilled about this place the moment I heard about it.
And I have to thank Cheryl for such a great recommendation!
For those of you who doesn’t know yet, Kombi is actually the name of this type of vehicle shown in the banner above.
One of the prettiest designs from Volkswagen, if you ask me!
Kombi Rocks is not just any other cute cafe!
Other than the “Diner” branch, they also have the “Rides” branch where they have cute vintage vehicles for hire.
Whether you’re planning for a photoshoot, wedding or just for a joyride, you can get them!
Imagine a wedding with such a cute ride, too cute.
That’s us on our way to Kombi Rocks!
It’s situated on Yio Chu Kang Road, nearer to the Serangoon side.
That’s really close to A’s place and we are thrilled to have discovered another cute cafe to hang out at near home. 🙂
[Yes we bought those old school snacks to eat. WE LOVE!]
It is hard to miss this place.
There would always be a couple eye-catching classic vintage rides parked at its doorstep.
We were here for a late lunch so we were the only table there.
Look at that cute light pink Kombi parked just outside the cafe! Cute right!
We also saw this absolutely gorgeous Porsche (we found out that its the owner’s ride after chatting with the boss).
The menu looks pretty old school too.
And A is looking funky here. Hahaha!
After reading up more about the background of Kombi Rocks (the history of the place is included at the back of the menu),
we found out that it started out as Koon Kee Restaurant which was started in 1971.
I looked around at the interiors of the diner and YES, it does look like an old school kopitiam-style
restaurant if you minus all the posters, funky decors and vintage vehicles littered all around the place.
The retro coffee tables, tiles, barber chairs, old clocks and floor designs, reminds me of the old Singapore in the 70s/80s.
The owners of the diner must be huge fan of music and automobiles.
See the next few pictures and you will know why I said that!
I like this blind spot mirror shot. You can pretty much see the entire shop from here!
Look at the kopitiam style coffee table and chairs and old school floor tiles!
Owners are probably huge Beatles fans too! 😀
I also spotted a SUPER cute pay phone tucked in a corner of the diner.
Why are pay phones now not as cute anymore?
I think the main customers for the hire of rides came from weddings.
There are a lot of wedding-related stuff in the diner.
Look at this!
Isn’t that what people used to do when they get married?
Drive away from the church in a cute Volkswagen Beetle with cans dragging behind the car saying “JUST MARRIED”?
Anyways, is it even legal to drag cans on the roads in Singapore? Heh.
There is also a little “Retail Section” at the back of the diner where you can pick up old memorabilia.
The “well not everything” looks like it’s added in later. Hahaha!
Someone must have attempted to buy something weird from the shop. :p
A and I picked a seat outdoors near the entrance of the diner.
I love the barber chairs they have in the diner!
We are sitting next to two barber chairs and the table is made from an old sewing machine.
Very creative!
The view from my seat.
The very pretty tiles on the table.
Even the owners’ name cards are super cute!
Anyways, we spoke to Ah Hai and he was super nice.
Oh! Before I forget, he told me that there would be a car boot flea market going on at Orchard Central this weekend!
A lot of their vehicles will be featured I think. Do head down if you’re keen.
I think I saw the TVC too, got celebrities heading there too. 🙂
NOW FOR THE FOOD!
Kombi Rocks serves Thai fusion and they sure did their food very well!
Fish Maw Soup for $13. Aroi Mak Mak!
I also ordered Tom Yum Vermicelli Soup.
I CANNOT RESIST TOM YUM.
It’s really good! Wish it was a bit spicier though! Heh.
A got her favourite Thai dish too.
She has been eating this everytime she has the chance to when we were in Bangkok two weeks ago.
Tsk!
Food was pretty good and reasonably priced!
I recommend this place to anyone who likes old school looking place,
and if you also have a penchant for vintage classic automobiles, you MUST NOT miss this place.
There are more vehicles parked at the back of the diner too (which I didn’t explore),
so do check them out if you’re there in future too! 🙂
Before we head off, I went to check out the interiors of the Kombi.
It’s really super cute lor. I like. 😦
OK lah, and one last picture, help them do free ad.
Hahahaha!
Hope you like this recommendation because I totally dig it!
I am having so much fun exploring new places and pigging out.
LIKE this post if you want more cafes!
And please do give me a slight nudge and let me know if I am going overboard with the visiting of cafes.
If not, please shoot & leave a comment to let me know where to go next!!!
Hehe.
Before I begin, let me say that I’m super super super excited about this post!
One of my best friends is getting married this Sunday!
YES. I’m talking about the smokin’ hot Sindy See!
The girls and I did some preparation for the night,
and we also booked a room at Fairmont Hotel.
I shall let the pictures do the talking!
The girls are all wearing blazer from Min’s Little Red Heels! 🙂
Looking fabulous!
And when I say “girlfriends”, A is there too!
She has gotten really close with my girlfriends and we can all hang out together now.
It’s a nice feeling to have all your friends loving your loved one too!
Lianie always like to disturb the girlfriend though. Lol!
A almost freaked out when they told her that they need to put lipstick on her because her outfit looks too dull.
LMAO.
Check out all my beautiful colorful girlfriends!
The girls went shopping before check-in too, and Lianie bought a new dress for Sinsin’s wedding night!
Random. A’s damn cute banana socks!
This is me looking retarded. Hahahaha!
Anyways, I am really loving the floral shorts I got from Miz Polly!
It’s super comfortable and stretchy, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the floral prints!
Gorgeous!
The last Hens Night Party we had was for Rossie couple years back.
Back then, we home made a veil and a little hand held “fan” for her.
And this year is no difference!
And from this year onwards, we will keep the veil and fan and make it a girlfriends tradition to pass them on.
Looks like the next person who would be getting them would be Lianie dear! :p
For Sinsin’s hens night, we did a little silly (but meaningful) handover ceremony.
Look at the veil and fan! Pretty? 😀
I am so proud of the fan I made! I am a genius!
HAHAHAHAHA.
I know, very shameless.
And our very own Bride’s assistant. :p
TADAH! A round of applause for the beautiful Mommy-to-be Rossie please!
And our full-of-laughs “handover ceremony”. Heh!
And just when you think that the fan just simply says “Bride To Be”… TADAH!
It has a naughty side too! :p
Group shots with the gorgeous bride to be!
Thanks A for being a fabulous photographer! Heh.
We headed out for dinner at nearby Lenas in Raffles City Shopping Centre!
Didn’t wanna spend too much time travelling around (because we wanna get back to the room to drink soon).
Heh!
We got a room change because we wanted a room in the new tower.
And Sinsin being Sinsin, is a disaster because she left her heels in the old room.
We got some hotel staff to go get it for us and this crazy woman walked around barefooted while waiting for the shoes.
Hahaha!
DINNER TIME!
We were soon joined by Sinsin’s good friend Liling!
She is a whole lot of fun too! 😀
And everybody starting taken turns to take picture with the bride-to-be.
And the drinking begins.
We played the “King’s Game” and it involves some drinking and stupid forfeits.
Let me know and leave a comment if you wanna know how to play the game.
A bit lazy to type it out here now. :p
One of the forfeits gave Liling some hard-to-be-missed lashes, drawn by our very own Sinsin.
Hahahahaha!
I had to wear my shorts inside out in another one. Damn.
Please ignore my ah siao pose.
In another forfeit, Sinsin and I did a “Superman” with our bras. LOL!
And crazy hot pink cheeks. *sobs*
Aiyo’s lap dance for A!
Sinsin was made to lick all the way from my belly button to my chin.
FAINTED!
See I scared until double chin also come out and say hello. Hahahaha!
And lucky Lianie got the circumference of her face licked by Sinsin too.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Other than that, there were also a couple other forfeits that are not very suitable for the camera.
Lol!
After a few rounds of drinks, we brought our sexy bride out for the night!
But just as we were all preparing, we realized that Aiyo (who has never been drunk)
is actually feeling the effects of the alcohol!
And she is an emo drunk! Hahaha.
We headed out to Clarke Quay area because there are a lot of bars there,
and we reckon that there HAS to be crowd for our plan to work well!
We prepared a list of dares for Sinsin to complete for the night.
Nothing sexual or outrageous, just a whole lot of tasks that requires balls and thick skin.
Hahahaha!
And I have to say, our Sinsin did TOO DARN WELL! 😀
Yes. That’s the “wait till you’re getting married” finger.
LOL!
These lovely people at a bar bought Sinsin a drink! 😀
Other than that, she also did a Hokie Pokie with two strangers. Haha!
I have to say, for the record, Sinsin doesn’t know her Hokie Pokie at all.
She also…
Asked for a strand of chest hair.
Got this dude to get her a shot.
And screamed “I am getting married y’all!” into the mic at this crowded club.
RESPECT.
There are couple other dares that I didn’t have pictures of.
She was such a sport!
Asking for one sock from random strangers, scurrying around asking for namecards,
asking for the phone number of a guy whose name starts with a vowel, etc.
And Aiyo, being the totally amazing Aiyo, stayed with us throughout the night!
We love you Aiyo dear!
Thanks for the wonderful company, girlfriends!
And for the bride-to-be, Sinsin, we can’t wait for Sunday to be here to witness you marry your delicate flower!
Hello girls! I’m back to show my little trip to another cafe.
This time round, it’s to Five & Dime at River Valley.
It was a little date for A and I after a busy week and I really love it!
I’m wearing my new top from Adan y Eva!
I love the top, other than the lovely nude colors that works for me all the time,
the quality is super good too! (No need to iron! Hehe!)
There is plenty of parking area around the cafe,
but that’s probably we visited the cafe during the off-peak hours too.
The cafe looks really cute from the outside!
I like the colors of the building and how it looks!
We got a seat near the main entrance.
The design of the place mats on the table is really cute too.
Tastefully done!
To be honest, I was expecting to see a huge place because the cafe looks quite big on their Facebook Page.
There are about less than 15 tables in the cafe but thankfully,
they are all spaced out properly so it looks pretty spacious.
I like the huge ceiling-to-floor windows, allowing lots of daylight into the cafe.
Bright and clean cafes are always awesome!
Old school looking floor tiles!
We were there for lunch so we only got to see their lunch menu.
I was a little surprised to see their menu because the choices were quite limited.
There is a huge variety for drinks too!
Lots of alcoholic drinks to choose from as well.
A settled for a egg and bacon sandwich, which turned out to be really really yummy!
It comes with a potato salad side which was really good as well!
As for me, the hard core carbohydrates addict, I picked the Mentaiko pasta!
It looks really delicious but I swear it tastes better than it looks!
I hate places that serves pasta with all the wrong serving sizes,
either too damn much or too little.
But this one was just right! 🙂
And some iced coffee to perk us up!
I’m really satisfied with the quality and taste of the food (especially my yummy pasta!)
Now it’s time for more pictures around the cafe!
Sinsin’s wedding is coming right up this coming Sunday and I cannot wait!
The girls and I just had a little hen’s night part with her two nights ago,
and I’ll be back with more updates and pictures really soon!
Till then, thanks for dropping by today and I hope you like the cafe I recommended.
Be sure to try their delectable sandwiches or the Mentaiko pasta when you’re there!
I am back with another entry about my Bangkok trip!
This is the third and last post about this recent trip though,
and it feels as if I am on the trip and it is ending all over again.
Boo.
I miss the Land of Smiles already!
For this last entry, I want to share one of my favourite night markets in Bangkok!
But before that, here are some pictures taken during our anniversary dinner there.
It’s our first year together and we decided to just spend it like any other day.
We had dinner at the 9th Cafe in Siam Paragon.
It’s just a simple looking cafe but the food was pretty good!
(The food is nice everywhere in Bangkok lah!)
This is my lady’s ‘happy smile’.
The food! A likes her western food and my heart has long been stolen by Thai cuisine.
After dinner, we went down to our favourite dessert haunt Vanilla Brassiere
and bought a tiny Tiramisu cake before we head back to the hotel.
A says this cake is made for us because it looks like a boob. LOL!
It was our first time to Rot Fai Night Market and we were being punked by the damn taxi driver who took us there!
Rot Fai Night Market is just walking distance from the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market,
but because we went to the night market from the town area, we had to take a taxi instead.
The bloody driver dropped us in front of a WET MARKET and told us it was Rot Fai Market.
I was so pissed when I got off the cab.
Fortunately with the directions from some kind Thai youngsters, we managed to walk to Chatuchak Market.
And from there, we walked to Rot Fai Night Market with a stream of people who were also walking there from Chatuchak.
So if you’re going there, do remember that you can actually walk to Rot Fai from Chatuchak!
I know I didn’t blog much about Chatuchak Weekend Market although I went there on my trip.
Well everyone knows about Chatuchak, isn’t it? Haha.
But for those who are going to Bangkok soon, just a reminder to check out Section 3 in the market!
My favourite section other than the pets section.
I love this night market because the mood there was just awesome!
It was really crowded but the people there are all hip and fun looking.
Lots of interestingly dressed people and all the stuff on sale there are really cute too!
Most of the stalls are operated out of vintage cars or cute looking mini vans.
Vintage furnitures, vintage clothes, vintage knick knacks, you can find almost anything vintage down there.
I love these really cute furnitures on sale there!
Suddenly wish I already have my own home so I can start buying all these gems home!
So so cute. I have to go back to Bangkok to buy furnitures for my home in future!
Look at these cases!
Seats made from a bath tub!
And more pictures! Look at all the funky people selling funky things,
and funky people buying funky things!
Everyone looks fun there. Heh!
Vintage toys on sale too!
And I LOVE that microphone this dude is using!
There are bars and eating places operating from a vehicle.
Lots of them littered all around the night market actually.
I also spotted a couple hippie looking young people sitting around eating and chatting while tending to their stalls.
I’m amazed by how they can make the whole place look so cute with just a few decorative items!
We had our dinner there as well!
In this place called Rod’s. It’s one of the more done-up eating place around there but we were sold when we saw the decor.
Very cute!
There was live music in there while you dine too.
No air con though. I was so happy it was at night so it wasn’t too warm in there.
Sorry if the pictures are a little dark!
I guess this pretty much concludes my Bangkok trip.
I was scrolling through the pictures I took when I was there and I chanced upon pictures of our favourite Thai dishes!
DROOL ALREADY LAH!
Basil leaves minced chicken with fried egg & stew pork rice with egg.
They are so yummy…
I am usually not a huge shopaholic when I’m in Bangkok.
Didn’t really buy so many things that I can lay everything out on the bed and take a photo of all the junk I bought.
So here are some of the cute little knick knacks I bought on this short trip.
Bought some clothes and usual singlets and stuff. Not worth mentioning.
Hahahaha.
To all those who are going to Bangkok soon, you have one jealous person here who is green with envy!
Hope you guys like my mini Bangkok Report!
Will be back tomorrow with more updates!
Sindy is getting married SOON!!!
In less than two weeks’ time actually, and the girlfriends are all crazy with the preparations and stuff.
Weeee!!!
Be right back with more stories, pictures and nice cafes to recommend! ❤
I am excited about this entry because I get to introduce a place I went to get the perfect smile!
I have always been not very confident with my teeth, especially the upper row because I have a gap between my two front teeth.
The ends of the two front teeth are jagged, and my teeth are really small.
I’m too used to chewing food on the right side of my mouth, so the right incisor and canine teeth are worn too.
My horrible teeth-grinding habit (bruxism) when I sleep is not helpful towards the worn teeth too.
As a result, the loss in enamel has caused my teeth to be sensitive as well.
Here are a few photos of my teeth to give you a better picture.
Sorry for the weird faces in the photos. Heh!
So during my short stay in Bangkok, A and I watched some videos from the show “Style By Jury”.
Those people did WONDERS with veneers, crowns and whitening work and the results were absolutely amazing!
I really love the Style By Jury show by the way!
Here are a couple clips for you to watch too!
A and I decided that it’s worth a shot to visit one of the dentists in Bangkok to see check how much porcelain veneers costs.
And so, after much online researching, we made our way to Bangkok Smile Dental Clinic the very next day!
The clinic got two branches and both are super near our hotels! Damn happy.
It was really SO MUCH cheaper than Singapore, we paid probably like 20% to 30% of what
we will have to pay if we did the same thing in Singapore!
At our first appointment, we wanted to do the usual scaling and polishing, and ask a little more about the veneers.
But the price and service was really impressive and we decided there and then
that we will just go ahead with the extra dental work!
The best thing is, they promised that the entire process will be completed within 5 days!
I’m sure if there wasn’t a Labour Day public holiday, it would have been even faster! Impressive impressive.
I did the consultation and was disappoint to know that I am not a suitable candidate for porcelain veneers
because the bruxism has already caused my natural teeth to wear off.
So she recommended me to crowns, which is somewhat similar to veneers but slightly more invasive.
A, on the other hand, did her veneers.
And both of us did teeth whitening! :B
Their teeth whitening service is fucking amazing!
I think it’s called some Zoom! Whitening thing, and it’s much stronger than what I did in Singapore couple years back.
The teeth REALLY got so much whiter! Even I got a shock!
As for the crown, we got a mold of our teeth taken. Here is mine!
Look at those ugly teeth on my upper row! 😡
Veneers are basically just a porcelain layer placed on the outer surface of your natural teeth.
A little part of your teeth will be shaved off so that the teeth will not be too thick after the veneers go on them.
As for crowns, it is almost similar except that the porcelain will be shaped like a cap instead of just a outer layer.
These give more protection and are tougher compared to veneers,
but it is more invasive because more enamel has to be shaved off the teeth.
There is local anesthesia injected into the gums during the shaving of the teeth so it was pretty much painless.
Even after the anesthesia wore off, there is practically not much pain but there is slightly bruising.
AND THE LIPS ARE SWOLLEN MAN!
This is me right after the treatment.
My upper lips is greeeeennnnnnn and purpleeeee! Ohmygod.
And beware! The ugliest photo I will show on my post.
Brace your eyes!
SWOLLEN LIPS!
The swelling made my whole fucking face swell like a pig’s head! 😦
But because there wasn’t much pain, I decided not to waste my time in Bangkok so we continued shopping.
Lol.
I am so glad I am in Bangkok and not in Singapore because I don’t wanna walk around looking like Piggy here!
But of course, after the dentist shaved off the enamel, she didn’t leave me walking around with my ULTRA-SENSITIVE tiny teeth.
I had temporary crowns done up for me.
But I had such a huge shock when I saw the colour of my gum man!
It’s grey and purple!
*might look a little gross*
OK, another freaking hideous photo of me right after the dental appointment.
This is the pose I have every time I’m seated somewhere, in an attempt to hide my sexy lips.
Hahahahaha.
The dentist instructed me to do a lot of cold compression for the first two days to reduce the swelling.
And by the third day onwards, I have to do hot compressions to increase blood flow, to ease the bruising.
I had the temporary crowns for about 3 days and I was thrilled when it’s finally my turn to get the permanent crowns on! SO SO EXCITED ABOUT IT!
But I was really worried at the same time because I needed another round of anesthesia.
Sucks man.
When the 2 hour appointment ended, I was so happy!
It was all worth it!
These are some pictures taken on the same day the permanent crowns are put on.
I LOVE MY PERFECT STRAIGHT WHITE TEETH!
Our teeth are SO SO white! Now I cannot stop smiling to myself. Hahaha!
For Aileen, her concern about her teeth was the little naughty tooth that was pushed backwards and not aligned with the rest.
So she corrected it with 8 veneers on the upper row.
This is how she look like before the veneers.
The procedures for veneers was much simpler and the swelling was much lesser than mine as well.
She still look very pretty even with her swollen upper lips. Heh!
And this is her teeth after her veneers are completed!
Gorgeous!
I like how the teeth look so natural!
My mom didn’t even realize I did something to my teeth only until a week after I returned from Bangkok.
Hahahaha.
The teeth looks and feels exactly the same as my natural teeth and my bite was not affected a single bit.
I like how both my canine teeth are pointy again and they look symmetrical again!
The two worn off teeth has been re-constructed too and I can smile big big again now!
I LOVE IT!
This is the BEFORE/AFTER picture:
The lighting of the picture above wasn’t very consistent.
I have to emphasize that my teeth has become so much whiter, as white as the sclera of my eyes now!
My gums are pink and healthy now.
The teeth look so natural nobody would even know those are crowns if I don’t tell!
Strong and healthy teeth is so so precious.
Hope you guys are not too turned off by the swollen face and purple gums photos!
Some of you might wonder if veneers and crowns are permanent.
Well, according to what I understand and found from the research,
the most common for the crowns and veneers failing is tooth decay.
In fact, poor hygiene practices are the main culprits for unhealthy teeth.
So with proper care, and that also includes not biting ice and not using teeth as bottle openers,
these porcelain veneers and crowns have the potential to last a lifetime!
LIKE the post to let me know if you like our new smiles! 😀
I was so excited to share my experience with you guys, very happy now! Hahaha.
And if you have any questions at all, feel free to shoot!
Will be back with the last entry of my Bangkok trip in a jiffy. Peace xx
It has been one year.
For our first year anniversary, I set out to write a book just for her eyes only.
Here is just a few pages of the book to let it be part of my personal blog.
A, thanks for being such a wonderful partner.
