Dean & Deluca

I met the girls for dinner and an early birthday celebration earlier this week.
We had a simple dinner and get-together at Dean & Deluca at Orchard Central.
Lianie told us about this place and I really love it!
Clean and bright with a lovely decor.
But it was really crowded when we were there and we had to queue for food!
The service wasn’t exactly very fast too. Oh well, but I have to admit the food was damn good.
I LOVE THE SCRAMBLED EGGS!

We shared our food and didn’t order too much.
The food we ordered was totally fab though!
These pictures don’t do the food justice at all! Really yummy!

Lianie couldn’t resist the tiramisu though, she started digging in on the spot. :p
Thanks for the support girls!

The girls also bought a small cake for me!
I hate it that we are all so busy with our own lives and work, I wish I have more more more time with them!
Thank you so much for taking time off to always meet for dinners and what not, girls! ❤
And thanks for the early birthday celebration.

Le’toile

Sunday’s dinner was at the cute little Le’toile Cafe at Owen Road!
A and I had been hungry the whole day because we were busy doing our work and missed all our meals,
and we were really looking forward to check out this cafe we heard about.

It was really nice to know that the cafe opens until as late as 10pm too.
Here are some pictures of the cafe. I love the building the cafe is located in!
So cute!
It is a really quiet area so this would be a great place for people who want to get away from the bustling town area.

IMG_5633

IMG_5634

The Japanese/French style cafe looks really welcoming with a small area near the main entrance
that carries cute accessories and other merchandise.
It is a 2 storey cafe and there are quite a lot of tables around.
I like how almost all the tables in this cafe are different!
Very cosy place, and there are a lot of books and magazines littered all around for patrons too.

We picked a seat on level 2 and I love the decor on the 2nd storey!
I felt as if I just stepped into a friend’s home – old school coffee table with dragon carvings,
sewing machine tables, and dressing table as the server’s station.
Cute!

I used my charm bracelet as a bag charm too! ❤

IMG_5656

The menu is all handwritten!
I read in some forums that they used to only serve sandwiches,
but I think they just added in some new stuff into their menu!
Lots of pasta to choose from amongst others.

I had a Lemon Ginger Tea and A had an iced latte.
I enjoyed my pot of tea but A thought the coffee was just meh.

Here is what we ordered.
We expected the food to be better but it was just pretty average.

IMG_5657

IMG_5658

That said, I think this place is great for gathering with friends for tea and some quick bites!
The place was really conducive and cosy, service staff were friendly and attentive too.

Crêperie des Arts

Heard of Strictly Pancakes? But have you ever noticed the unassuming little cafe right next to it?
A and I heard friends raving about the crepes at Crêperie des Arts, so we decided to give it a try.

IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST BITE.

I know how crepes are usually sweet, served with ice cream, honey or other sweets.
We were pretty surprised when we checked out the large variety of savoury crepes that’s available there!
Our first visit was two weeks ago on a Sunday and after one meal,
we decided that we want to have the exact same thing for lunch the following day.
But because they are closed on Monday, we headed back for dinner again on Tuesday!
The crepes are THAT good to make us wanna head back so many times!

Here are some pictures to give you a virtual tour around the cafe.

We spoke to the owner, Sun sun (who is REALLY friendly and hospitable) and were told that they only serve dinner now.
But I’m sure we might be able to enjoy their crepes for lunches soon after Sun sun’s delivery.

The cafe is rather small but definitely cozy!
They have about 4 table indoors and a few more outdoors.
Apart from those, they also have a level 2 which will be opened up to accommodate more guests during bad weather.
Guests can host private events on level 2 as well.

As for food, we haven’t really tried a huge variety yet because we keep eating the same thing. Heh.
A is addicted to the spinach and salmon crepe!
I’ve tried that as well and I love it to bits too.
We have been eating the same thing until Sun sun also remember already lor. Hahaha!

I promise the food is fabulous and I don’t understand why most Singaporeans end up at Strictly Pancakes instead.
The owner told us that the cafe welcomes a lot of French and trust me, I’m sure the French know their French crepes well.
So, please do yourself a favour and try Crêperie des Arts out.
As much as I hate sharing this place because that would mean I have to queue for a table in future,
I think the good food and great service deserves recognition and a roaring business!

Here is me and Sun sun. She’s a really nice lady.

Screen shot 2012-07-25 at AM 03.48.46

See you there if you’re heading there because I’m definitely going back again.

Maison Ikkoku

Screen shot 2012-06-13 at PM 09.40.47

It is another fine day for some cafe-exploring!
A and I had such a busy week and it is such a luxury to be able to take the afternoon off.
Thanks to reader dropletloves, I got to know about this really adorable cafe called Maison Ikkoku.

The walk to the cafe was a really scenic one too – I love this part of Singapore!

IMG_5127

IMG_5128

IMG_5129

IMG_5132

IMG_5170

IMG_5171

Maison Ikkoku is more than just an ordinary cafe.
It resides in this beautiful white shophouse – level 1 is the cafe, level 2 is the boutique and level 3 the bar.
Look at the building, isn’t it gorgeous!

IMG_5133

IMG_5134

IMG_5136

The cafe was really cozy!
I like how old cupboard doors were given a second life and made into tables.
Look at our table, there is a keyhole on it.
This is doing vintage with a modern twist!

IMG_5157

IMG_5150

The naked bulbs and copper pipes gave the place a slight industrial feel too.
Pretty cool if you ask me!

IMG_5151

IMG_5154

IMG_5152

This place has a huge variety of coffee and from how they display their collection of coffee machines for sale,
you can probably guess that Maison Ikkoku is one place you can count on when you need a good cuppa coffee!

A, being a coffee addict, ordered a cup of her regular iced latte.
It was really good!
I had my Earl Grey tea 🙂

IMG_5144

IMG_5145

IMG_5147

As for food, they have quite a number of sandwiches for customers to choose from.
We were excited about their All Day Breakfast too!
But we were a little disappointed when we realized those are only for weekends.
Note to self: I have to go back again during the weekends!

IMG_5137

We ordered a sandwich each and the food didn’t take too long to come (which was awesome cos we were starving!)
Check out my yummy Norwegian Smoked Salmon and Dill Cream sandwich!

IMG_5158

A ordered the Ham and Monterey Jack sandwich made with honey glazed ham,
monterey jack cheese, creamy dijon mayo and baby spinach!

IMG_5161

And us being us, we exchanged one side of the sandwich with each other! Heh.

IMG_5164

IMG_5162

I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised with the standard of the food served.
Ham and cheese sandwich is available everywhere, but not every ham and cheese sandwich tastes good.
(just like Aglio Olio!)
I think the combination of ingredients used in the ham and cheese sandwich was awesome!

The smoked salmon sandwich was good too (this flavour is one of their best sellers).
But I think because I started on the salmon sandwich after the ham and cheese one,
the taste of the former paled in comparison.
So be sure to try the salmon one before you steal your friend’s food the next time you go,
or you will end up with a confused taste palette like me! :p

OK, random photo.
A took this when I was eating.
I didn’t know I look so crazy when I eat.

We also took the chance to explore levels 2 and 3 of the building.
The decor of all 3 levels are in sync and it was really interesting to be able to have all three places in one building.
Check out the boutique!
I heard most of the items here were imported from Japan, they sell mostly men’s wear though.
But girls, do check them out too because a lot of the accessories I saw there were dope!

Level 3 is the bar.
I was very excited as we were walking up the stairs and I was totally blown away when I first laid eyes on the bar.
The view of the roof of the shophouses and the gorgeous Sultan Mosque was really cute!
Not breathtaking or majestic, but definitely very Singaporean. 🙂

I’m also here to share some pretty photos I got from Sinsin for her wedding that happened in May!

Lots of love!
Something I didn’t share in my post about Sinsin’s wedding is the few of us actually performed for her wedding.
Hahahaha.

A and I are working on something fun and exciting, so exciting that I’m dying to tell everyone
but I can’t reveal it as of now because I have been sworn to secrecy.

Till then, I will be checking out more places to go, things to eat, stuff to buy!
Have a good day ahead peeps!

Goods Of Desire

On Thursday night at around 4am, A and I suddenly decided that we want to go to a farm together.
(Yes we are so ridiculously random sometimes)
So we decided to go check out the Kranji Countryside area the following morning!
I guess this is the problem for us non-westies because the west is SO FAR away.
And driving all the way to the west makes us feel like we are not in Singapore anymore, in a good way!

We went online to check out some of the farms in Lim Chu Kang area and we got really excited.
Reminded me of the times I went to those mushroom farms on school excursions!
A recommended me to this place called Bollywood Veggies, and raved about how healthy and absolutely good the food was.
And so, Bollywood Veggies it shall be!

P7067622

P7067623

I like the owners’ sense of humour.

P7067624

P7067625

I’m sure it’s not just me – I think this place really doesn’t feel like the usual Singapore we are familiar with.
And it’s such a nice change to be able to have a quiet brunch
in an honest feeling and down-to-earth place like Bollywood Veggies!
This place is started by a couple after retirement. They have a house just by the farm.
Cute!

As for the good food, you cannot miss Poison Ivy because it’s right by the main entrance!

P7067629

Look at some of the recognition Poison Ivy has gained!
Read more about the founders (and farmers) at Bollywood Veggies here.
It’s quite interesting!

P7067631

P7067627

And the resident doggies at Bollywood Veggies.

P7067630

We had a table in the outdoor area because we thought there’s no other better place to get some fresh air!
It was surprisingly quite crowded when we were there.
It was an ordinary Friday morning and I wonder why there are so many people who are not working on a weekday.
But whatever it is, every single person there looked happy with their food and we were mad hungry watching others eat!

Another thing that made me love this place more is when I found out about
how they embrace older or employees with physical disabilities.
We also met one of the many rescued dog who now has a home at Bollywood Veggies!

We also had fresh aloe vera drinks and brunch felt so healthy and wholesome!
I will definitely definitely go back again for more yummy family-style lunches.

We toured around the farm a little after lunch and it made me love this place even more.
Look at the little touches of fun in this farm!

Really cute!
We bought some banana chips and seeds to grow our own veggies too. :p

A and I also attended the official opening of the Goods of Desire store in Singapore!
I LOVE Goods of Desire and I’m so happy to know it’s finally here.

Here is my outfit of the day.

And the balloon from Janice and Valerie. ❤

P7077721

Tracy also made me this card which I really appreciate!
She even doodled me. :p
It was so cute I even put it on my Instagram!
I also had the chance to had a chat with Desiree over coffee. It’s nice to make a new friend!
Thank you Clarice for the Japanese snacks and Noelle for the Grin Affair jarcakes too!
They were really yummy. 😀

I’m so happy to have the chance to meet you guys in person. 😀

Juup Your Nails

I found a new nail parlour that I absolutely adore!
There are two branches (from what I researched from the internet) and I visited the Somerset branch.
It’s in one of the shophouses just behind TripleOne and it’s really nice to have my nails done away from the crowds!
The best thing is, I get to watch movie while getting my nails done.
Sex and The City, y’all! ❤

IMG_4788

I know I am a little slow but I only found out about this gelish polish thing couple weeks ago.
It rocks because I have really weak nails and gelish seem to last really long,
doesn’t hurt my nails like how hard gel nails do.
Check out my nails!

IMG_4787

IMG_4789

The girls recommended bright orange for my toe nails and I’m loving it!
I have to say I am really impressed with the service.
They have a freaking menu for drinks ok! Heh.

IMG_4790

I am in love.

IMG_4799

I like how I have new nail colours to go with the new bracelet & bangle A bought for me!
Look at the bracelet! I like how the chains are all different on one side of the bracelet.
Gorgeous gorgeous.
Thank you sweetie A!

IMG_4798

And so I was saying, this new nail spa I visited really rocks!
Do visit them too if you want to be pampered!
They are having this promotion on their Facebook Page where you just need to LIKE and SHARE,
and you will stand a chance to win free services at Juup Nail Spa!
Don’t say I never share ok? Hee.

A was really sweet to send me to Juup and pick me after my nails are done too.
We went to Bugis to get some more lemons and distilled water to get ready for our 3-days detox program!
For your information, I haven’t had any food for 30 over hours when the pictures above were taken.
I know the benefits about regular detoxing but I haven’t really tried doing proper detox before.
And after hearing A rave about this detox thing she tried, I decided to give it a try too!

This is the haven’t-eaten-for-one-day face.

IMG_4796

IMG_4795

IMG_4791

IMG_4793

It was really hard trying to keep my face away from the food and after detoxing for a grand total of almost 50 hours,
I caved.
And instead of easing my body into eating regular food again, I had fast food.
Detox fail.
I shall try again 2 weeks later and see if I can do it for 3 days straight.

OK moving on.
A and I went back to Pepperoni Pizzeria for dinner earlier because I was having some massive pizza craving!
This place holds a lot of memories for us because it’s one of the few places we went when we first started.
I love the food here – the pizza, the chicken wings, the squid ink pasta, the calamari.
And the huge variety of beer here never fails to seduce me.
It was pretty dark and crowded so I didn’t manage to get proper pictures.

IMG_4801

IMG_4802

IMG_4804

IMG_4809

Please do not be alarmed if you think you saw a face in the picture above.
It’s just the reflection of a drawing from the adjacent wall. Heh!

There are also crayons on the table for the guests to kill some time while waiting for the food.
You can also see lots of cute doodles all over the walls in the restaurant’s interior.
Very cute!

IMG_4803

IMG_4808

IMG_4807

This is A’s face when she ask if I “want to add a calamari to our order”.
Hahahaha! We weren’t even supposed to eat proper food right after the detox!
Tsk.
(But yes we went ahead with the calamari anyway!)

IMG_4805

And random camwhore shot.
Is it me or is that hand on chin pose very passe and auntie? 😡

IMG_4806

AND THE FOOD!
GLORIOUS OH GLORIOUS FOOD!

We ordered a Parma Ham & Rocket Salad 9″ Pizza.
It’s so orgasmically good!

IMG_4810

IMG_4811

I actually like the crust of this pizza!
Who the hell likes to eat pizza crust! So you can imagine how good the rest of the pizza taste.
Pepperoni Pizzeria is also well known for their chicken wings!
A little spicy and very crispy.
I thought I heard it still sizzling when it arrived at our table.

IMG_4812

IMG_4813

The calamari was just as good!
I guess you can tell with one look that it’s different from the regular calamari you eat outside.

IMG_4814

The two girls are very happy after a hearty meal!
Sorry for the blur photo. Heh.

OK. I would like to end this post with something that made me pissed and amused at the same time.
I came to know about this person’s blog from my website’s comment system.
Apparently, the system seem to be able to track a pingback of some sort.
Alright you have to pardon me because I’m actually really bad with such things.

The point is, this certain Belle Soong person took my 365 Post and made it her own!

NOTE: I tried to go back to her website to get the direct link to show you guys but it’s made private now.

LUCKILY I TOOK SCREEN SHOTS JUST NOW AH!!!!!

Screen shot 2012-07-04 at PM 11.55.41

“I know it’s way overdue, this is the only time I have to pen it out”
I didn’t know COPY+PASTE can take up so much of your time!
My mom has a saying “拿人家的屁股做脸皮” – I think I know what it means now.

Honestly, if you like what I wrote,
or if you REALLY FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME AS HOW I FELT, at least credit the post?
AND OF ALL POSTS, YOU PICKED THIS POST?!

Do you know how much this post meant to me?
If you look at my original post, you’ll realize that you cannot scroll and copy because those are pictures.
This girl actually bothered to TYPE THEM OUT!
Belle, I thought you say you got no time to “pen it out”, how you find the time to copy and type ah!

*angry*

“Like Winnie to the Pooh”.
What on earth are you trying to say?
And what is “more to mostest”!
Why you anyhow change my stuff when you don’t even understand what I’m saying.

OK, but I gotta give it to her because she did read through my stuff and did the appropriate editing.

A’s 5 habits that I adore.
Obviously one of the habits doesn’t really make sense to her because she only copied 4.

Screen shot 2012-07-04 at PM 11.57.03

Belle oh Belle.
Why did you choose to plagiarize and WHY this post?
The contents in this post was only meant for A and I didn’t even want to put them up in my blog in the first place.
You don’t look like someone who needs to plagiarize to be able to write something nice on your website girl.

Pink Dot

Screen shot 2012-07-01 at PM 10.50.23

We have finally attended the first Pink Dot together!
Look at A’s face in the picture above, she looks so happy.

We had a wonderful picnic and celebration at Pink Dot 2012 with some 15000 other people!
It is the first ever night Pink Dot and the one with the largest scale so far and I’m so glad we were part of it!
To prepare Boo for the event, I dug out all her pink stuff and threw them on her.
She looked quite ridiculous to be honest because Boo is not a “pink” dog,
but oh well, it’s Pink Dot anyway! A little pink won’t hurt. :p

We did a little cape (with special message) for her.

IMG_4655

IMG_4656

And completed with pink sneakers and a furry pink collar, Ridiculous Boo is born!
HAHAHAHA!

Everybody I saw there looked beautiful and they were all truly happy!
Look at the gorgeous Pink Dot we all created together!

Screen shot 2012-07-01 at PM 10.39.47

From what I heard, the pink dot was bigger than what we see in the picture.
The trees at the two sides of the photo blocked off a lot of people I guess.
Can we get those trees pruned a little before the event next year? Heh!

I also saw this amazing video that I feel obligated to share because it’s SO beautiful.
For those who did not attend the event, I hope you can feel the love and warmth as you watch this video too!

See you again next year, Pink Dot!

We had some food at Maxwell Market and Boo looked so funny when we were waiting for our food at the table.
I think it had been a while since she walked so much.
She looked really tired!

IMG_9255

Speaking of which, Boo is also one lucky girl because she had a lot of new food, treats and accessories!
They all came in a huge box two days ago and we are all excited!

Special thanks to Kohe Pets for the pets supplies!
Boo and her 5 other siblings are all thrilled!

kohe pets banner

This website is really good by the way because the amount of stuff they sell
is really a lot more compared to many others!
I think I spent about 3 hours surfing through the website the first time I went there.
For my first order, I ordered lots of stuff for the lovely furkids!

IMG_4650

IMG_4651

IMG_4654

I love these new shoes for Booboo! ❤

IMG_4652

The girl loves these new venison ribs treats I got her too!

IMG_4653

I’m so glad I don’t have to visit pet shops to lug all these supplies home anymore!
And because of the free delivery, it’s cheap to buy online too because the prices of the items on the site
is about 20 to 30% lower than retail prices!

Thank you so much, Kohe Pets!
WE LOVE YOU! ❤

And before I sign off today, I would also like to take this chance to thank everybody who took part in the Giveaway post!
I wish I could give something away to every single person, but because of the limited items,
I could only give to a maximum of 30 persons!

A wanted to make sure that I was fair in the picking of the winner so
she devised a very time-consuming way of getting the winners – by picking lots!
I really got to salute her because she spent hours preparing the lots and she actually had a lot of fun doing it.
Hahahaha. She’s bizarre like that! :p
She’s such a dear!

Vanilla Cafe

A and I checked out this little bar & cafe at Boon Tat Street yesterday.
It was a nice little place with friendly (but somewhat strange, I’ll get to that later) waitresses.
And the best thing is, we were the only ones there when we were there!

IMG_4551

IMG_4552

IMG_4553

It is a clean and bright place that looks relatively welcoming.
The two young waitresses who were there that afternoon were pleasant and cheerful too!
The decor was simple but it works for me, I especially liked the little outdoor area at the back of the cafe.
But because it was a little too warm, we chose to dine indoors.

IMG_4529

The choices on the menu all looked very attractive!
They serve mostly Western food with a bit of Japanese twist.
I like how they have pictures in the menu too.
Sorry. Pet peeve when it comes with menu with no pictures. Ahem.

Oh! For people who loves all day breakfast, Vanilla can now join your list of “breakfast cafes” too!
Hope you can get an idea of the general price range of the items there from the pictures below as well.

IMG_4535

And so I was saying in the second sentence of this post that this place has ‘rather odd’ waitresses right?
Don’t freak out because they didn’t do anything outrageously weird!
Just that after some observation, A and I concluded that the two girls don’t have very high EQ.
Let me explain.

When we first got in, the table was totally empty, no setting of cutlery etc.
So we got in, waitress came over, we ordered.
Then, the waitress came over with two glasses of ice water (ONE)
When our glass of coke came, she walked over with the drink (TWO)
Realized she forgot the coaster, so came by with coaster again (THREE)
Then she brought our Soup Of The Day (FOUR)
And then serviette and one spoon (FIVE)
When the food was ready, she brought my fish with my cutlery and serviette (SIX, WELL DONE!)
Aileen ordered pasta, so the girl later brought the pasta over Pasta with a spoon! (SEVEN)
A and I were laughing uncontrollably.
Walked over to the counter and brought a piece of serviette over (EIGHT)
“Why serviette and not a fork?!?!!”
We then waited for her to come by one more time to pass us a fork but it didn’t happen.
Then we realize she must have forgotten or something.
So we had to request for a fork.
She walks over with a fork (NINE)
Hahaha.
Served desserts with two forks (TEN, WELL DONE TOO!)

I cannot believe the girls had to come by so many times and they keep forgetting stuff.
But if by any means you are one of the people running Vanilla and you are reading this,
please don’t reprimand your girls because they are friendly and nice,
well maybe they just need some training.

That said, the food was surprisingly quite good!
The soup tasted quite good but we thought it can be improved if it was a little thicker.
I liked how they served the soup with English muffin instead of the usual baguette actually!

IMG_4538

Aileen ordered Angelhair pasta with Ebiko.
If you like simple pasta dishes but want a change from the usual Aglio Olio, this is a good choice.

IMG_4544

IMG_4545

I ordered pan seared White Fish with capers and olives and sauteed mushroom.
I love this dish!
The fish was really flavorful with the capers and olives gave a nice finish.
It’s not too greasy and the salad tasted so good with the light gravy from the fish!
*still salivating*

IMG_4542

IMG_4541

IMG_4543

I was so busy eating, I didn’t have the time to look at the camera. :p

IMG_4546

Desserts was a little disappointing though, because the ice cream with the molten chocolate cake came melted.

IMG_4548

I also spotted this cute looking “dirty” cake.
Vanilla Dirt Cake – it comes in a little pot and it is made to look like soil.
Isn’t it quite cute? Hahaha.
I later knew from a reader that this Oreo cake is quite yummy!
Maybe I should try it the next time I visit Vanilla!

IMG_4550

Random. Also spotted Domo-kun saying Bye to us as we leave the cafe.

IMG_4549

The bill came up to about $50 plus.
I think I’d go back to Vanilla again. Check it out too, if you’re in the area and want a quiet lunch!
Hope the waitresses won’t be walking to the tables so many times the next time I’m there. Haha.

I am also wearing my brand new shoes from Sœurs!
This shop is only about 2 weeks old and it’s opened by good friend and fellow blogger, Jayne and her sister Jasmine!

Freaking love the shoes because it’s so comfortable to be in and I’m so happy I dropped by their shop!
They also have little accessories and clothes on sale, and the shop is such a happy little place to be in.
Because of the new opening, they are having 50% off for the second pair of shoes purchased now!
I LOVE!

Pink Dot is happening later and I can’t wait to be there!
A and I bought ourselves some pink tops and also made a little something for Boo to wear!
Before I go, I wanna show you this funny polaroid we took.
We were trying out the pink torch we made for the Pink Dot event, so we wanted to take a creepy picture with lights.
We shone it from chin up and took a polaroid.
But when the picture came out, the flash pretty much made the pink light non-visible.
And we *whispers: especially A* look like idiots.
