Aza Aza Fighting!

IMG_3783

It has been an overwhelming week for me, busy as a bee.
I tell myself everyday that this will all be worth it and one day, I will be able to see the returns.

The Tiramisu Hero is almost 3 months old now.
Despite being propelled straight into “auntie-hood” – stuck in the kitchen all day and only shopping in baking supplies stores,
it gives me a great sense of achievement watching the business grow bit by bit everyday.
We’ve been having return customers and good feedback too! They always make our day.

If you are one of those people who has supported The Tiramisu Hero in one way or another,
I want to say a big THANK YOU to you from the bottom of my heart. 🙂

I used to be a worry wart who would only think about the bad side of everything.

“What if it fails?”
“What if we keep losing money? How long should we hold on for?”
“Where will it takes us?”
“Will we be able to earn enough to move on to the next step?”

I kept thinking to myself that if this were to fail, I’ll just have to go back to a 9-to-5 job
and go head-to-head with the fresh grads again since I only have one year of working experience.
To be honest, it still worries me now everytime I have such thoughts.

A has been the rock in my life.
We set up a little office area in her bedroom and the two of us are just pretty much stuck here on a daily basis
when we are not at the kitchen – trying to take care of other stuff like inventory, accounts, logistics & other small stuff.
The frequent late nights sometimes drive us a little cranky and more irritable.
We bicker a lot more often than before, but I appreciate the support and love she gives me.
We live and breathe tiramisu now and I hope tiramisu will also be the one that will see us through and bring us closer
to our dream of having our own little shop and eventually being able to afford a home together.

This last one month has been really exciting for A and me!
Thinking back, it was really crazy of us to come up with the idea of starting a business within one night!
From registering of the website, to sourcing for suppliers to starting our business officially, it took us barely two (sleepless) weeks.
We are still a really teeny weeny company but at least we are now registered and
have our own little legal central kitchen.
We dream all day about having our own store and hopefully we’ll be able to carry more than just tiramisu too! 🙂

We were really lucky so far.
We were invited by a popular local magazine to be featured in one of their delivery food spread feature!
A and I couldn’t stop smiling to ourselves when we read that particular email together.
(still smiling when I think of it now)
Hope everything will go smoothly, and I can’t wait to have our first The Tiramisu Hero magazine feature!! * big grin*

We have also been working closely with this fashion/homewares boutique at Haji Lane too.
Apart from ordering online and doing self collection for our tiramisu,
our customers will soon be able to shop for some of the more popular tiramisu products from Haji Lane!
It is not our own store but we will be having a small little corner in the shop!
The official opening will be on 3rd November so A and I are like mad busy now!
Will definitely keep you guys updated. 🙂

Took my family and A to the Singapore Flyer and checked out this 6D show they have.
The kids had a lot of fun!
It was pretty awesome and I also brought my new parka/blazer from Runway Bandits out to meet the sun.

IMG_3878

Totally dig the shoes from Soeurs too! I’ve been wearing them almost everyday. Heh!
You can find Soeurs at Level 2 in Cineleisure.

IMG_3879

It was Donn’s birthday too.
A’s Dad was not in town so they took a family photo with his Dad on Skype. So cute right?
Makes me miss my parents. 😥

IMG_4114

I also met up with Wei Yen and got my goodies from her store, The Pony Party!
She’s a really nice girl and all the stuff she passed me are so adorable!!

IMG_4088

Bought new shades too! Hehe.
Since I’m so busy stuck at work all the time. Online shopping is really the only way out to do my retail therapy.
Got these from Smart Buy Glass! 😀
Got a hard time picking out a suitable pair because they have SO MUCH!
Nice nice?

Thank God for online shopping to keep me sane. Haha!

A and I also checked out a new cafe at McCallum Street.
We spoke to the owner of the cafe and realized that the cafe is only 6 months old!
SPRMRKT is a really unique place that puts food, retail and art into one space.
The decor is simple but comfortable aesthetically.
They have a corner that houses all the kitchen wares for sale too! Very interesting.

And what’s even better is that the food is really really good!

I had an oxtail penne and A picked their pork ribs.
The price range is about slightly under $20 for a main, but it’s really well worth it.

It is now 4.33am and I am feeling guilty about not blogging for such a long time.
This is pretty much the only time I can sit down and “talk to myself” and reflect on how everything is so far.
Hope I didn’t bore you. 🙂

And I shall shamelessly end the post with my camwhore photo! Haha.

Enjoy the weekend, people!

Chillax

It has been quite a chillax week for me so far – meeting up with friends, finding new cafes to hang out in.
I like. 🙂
But before I start on the two cafes I visited, here is Bacchus, Bert and me playing lovey dovey!

IMG_3748

The two cafes I visited were Loysel’s Toy and Chillax!

IMG_3752

A and I met up with Jayne yesterday to check out Loysel’s Toy at Kampong Bugis.
We were there at about 4pm and sadly weren’t in time order anything from their food menu.
The place is quite cute though! Simple and clean looking.
It’s really windy and spacious, so quite a perfect place to sit and just slack the afternoon away.

Vernon and Jayne also recommended A to this new cafe at Serangoon Gardens.
It’s really near A’s house so we visited the very next day!
Lianie was coming over to A’s place to hang out, so we had dinner together at Chillax.

IMG_3730

IMG_3729

IMG_3731

The decor in Chillax is modern vintage, so it’s kinda up my alley.
The cafe is also founded by radio presenter, Darren Wee.

The Coffee Daily

A and I have been trying to visit The Coffee Daily and we finally managed to find time to drop by for a drink. 🙂
This cafe is really near her place so we were both very excited to see how it looks like.
It turns out to be unpretentious and really cute!

Here are just a few snapshots.
The cafe is not very big but definitely spacious and comfortable to hang out in.

IMG_3624

IMG_3625

I love how there are a lot of old school elements in the decor.

I like the place! 🙂

Bintan Getaway!

Courtesy of Journeyful and Bintan Lagoon Resort, A and I were whisked away to Bintan for the weekend!
I always loved weekend getaways and other than local hotel staycations, short trips to nearby isles is also one of my faves.
A and I joined other bloggers and media representatives to the media launch at Bintan Lagoon Resort!

They all had different uniforms so I reckon they all played different roles in the resort. Very cute!
I also saw other bloggers like Silver, Nadnut, Brad, Zoe, Dawn and many more. 🙂

Take Care

We all love Singapore. And in times like this when we are all obsessed with work and other material things,
how can we make a change in Singapore that can help people live better, healthier and lead more meaningful lives?

As our everyday lives become more stressful, and we start to realize that 24 hours a day is no longer enough,
it is time to be creative and make the complicated simple. Finding the balance between work and personal time,
physical and emotional well-being amongst other things are becoming more of a chore for many of us.

Personally, the few years after I graduated from school has whizzed by me in a flash.
All of my friends around me were all caught up in rat races that never seem to end
and doesn’t seem to be taking us anywhere. Everyday is work, and more work.
And apart from dictating our own future paths, we still have to take care of other things in our lives –
Am I making enough to give my parents a good life after they retire?
Will I be able to save enough to set up my own family? Am I getting enough exercise?
When was the last time I had a dental checkup?

If you are also one of those caught up in the rat race, hoping someone would come rescue you,
then the new ‘+’ Project by Philips is definitely here at the right time.

The ‘+’ Project by Philips is a campaign that encourages people to improve their health
and well-being by creating sustainable cities and allow people to have better access to healthcare.

As part of this campaign, they would like to invite you to share your idea of what is the best way to promote health
and well-being in Singapore and to know what matters to most people living in Singapore.
Their website is a really informative place where you can find out more about
some of the current problems Singapore might be facing and how we can overcome them.
Pretty interesting read, I must say!

And the survey page is even cuter!

Screen shot 2012-10-11 at PM 08.24.48

Look! The introduction page is really adorable too!

Screen shot 2012-10-11 at PM 08.25.08

The survey will only take about 5 to 10 mins to complete and it doesn’t even feel that long
because the animation is so pretty! The questions are things that are close to heart
about our society, family, work, health and more.
Here is one of the questions I encountered in the survey:

Screen shot 2012-10-11 at PM 08.25.23

At the end of the survey, you will also be asked to vote for an idea or movement you most support!
Choose the one that you can relate to most and they will try to make it happen! 🙂

Screen shot 2012-10-11 at PM 08.25.38

At the end of the survey, you will also get an idea of how satisfied with your personal health and well-being.
Hmm! I’m apparently not very satisfied. :/

Screen shot 2012-10-11 at PM 08.25.44

The best thing is, as you share your ideas and find out more about where you stand with regards to health
and well-being in Singapore, you will also be rewarded for sharing your thoughts!
There are weekly prizes and grand prizes worth $10,000 up for grabs!

last

So start sharing now at The Philips’+’ Project Survey Page website for an interesting read how Singaporeans today are coping.

And last but not least, don’t forget to share your thoughts with the survey specially crafted for you! 🙂

The next day, I set out early and headed out to Clarke Quay for my Botox appointment with Neuglow!

I’ve heard so much about Neuglow from Jayne and am totally thrilled when it’s finally my turn to visit them.
As some of you might have already known, I have bruxism problem and
it has given me over-developed chewing muscles over the years of teeth grinding.

So after some thoughts, I’ve decided to go get my square jaws taken care of!
I tried Botox couple of years back but the thought of getting needles in my face still creeps me out.
But the girls at Neuglow were really nice and stayed with me throughout the entire session.
“Thank you girls so much!”
It was also very reassuring to know that my doctor is one of the senior doctors in Neuglow, Dr Joseph Soh.

P1017107

P1017104

“These horrible muscles will shrink!!!” he said. 😀

The session started with the nurse helping me numb the area with ice packs and a numbing cream.
So by the time the needles came, I almost couldn’t feel anything at all.
I took about 2 shots on each side of my jaw.

P1017118

P1017120

SATISFIED and feeling brave! :p

P1017146

Neuglow offers a huge array of services, from non-invasive procedures like Botox and fillers
to plastic surgery to dental services.
You can check out their website for more information!
I’ve already made an appointment for my next review with them in November and I can’t wait to see the results!
Thank you Dr Soh and the oh-so-friendly girls at Neuglow!

It was also A’s brother Donn’s big day last week!
Donn and Meihua makes a really cute couple and it was such a heartwarming affair at the wedding banquet! ❤

It was also the first time I saw A wear a pretty little dress too! Ahem.
She looks very hot lor! Hahaha.

Before I show you more pictures, here are pictures of A and I getting my hair “UP”!
Special thanks to my lovely hair sponsor, Shunji Matsuo and Caely who gave me such a bombastic hairstyle!

By the way, don’t you think Caely really looks like Taiwanese celebrity Da S!!
I made a really last minute appointment with them and I really appreciate it when
they took the time to do my hair at such late notice.
Caely is usually super busy (because everyone wants their hair done by her), so BIG BIG THANKS! ❤

I’m loving the hairdo!

IMG_3422

IMG_3423

Runway Bandits has generously sponsored A and my outfits for the dinner too!
It was love at first sight for me – the green lace top was such a gem and it made me look dressed up instantly.

You And I

I heard this song by Ingrid Michaelson this afternoon and liked it right away!
I would like to dedicate this song to my dearest A.

We might not have any money but we’ve got our love to pay the bills.
Let’s get rich and buy our parents homes in the South of France.
Let’s get rich and buy everybody nice sweaters and teach them how to dance.

*The audio quality at the higher notes is really bad. Pardon me! 😡

You And I by Ingrid Michaelson

Don’t you worry there my honey
We might not have any money
But we’ve got our love to pay the bills

Maybe I think you’re cute and funny
Maybe I wanna do want bunnies do with you if you know what I mean

Oh lets get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of France
Lets get rich and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how to dance
Lets get rich and build a house on a mountain making everybody look like ants
From way up there, you and I, you and I

Well you might be a bit confused
And you might be a little bit bruised
But baby how we spoon like no one else
So I will help you read those books
If you will soothe my worried looks
And we will put the lonesome on the shelf

Oh lets get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of France
Lets get rich and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how to dance
Lets get rich and build a house on a mountain making everybody look like ants
From way up there, you and I, you and I

Oh lets get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of France
Lets get rich and give everybody nice sweaters and teach them how to dance
Lets get rich and build a house on a mountain making everybody look like ants
From way up there, you and I, you and I

Barcelona I

A and I finally made it to Barcelona!
We heard so much about this place – the petty thieves, the gorgeous beaches, the friendly people, the glorious food…
And indeed, this place lived up to expectations and we fell in love with Barcelona the moment we set foot on it!

After dumping our rucksacks in our apartment at La Rambla, we headed out to Bar Lobo which is just round the corner.
The host at our apartment raved about this place, saying it’s one of the best cafes in Barcelona and we were so excited about it!

The Spanish are so friendly and the service here was so good! Very impressed.
And of course, the food was absolutely fantastic (and probably the best we had throughout our stay in Barcelona).
Tapas and Paella for lunch!

We stayed in the heart of the city near La Rambla and the experience was really good!
It’s convenient to travel around from here, and it’s near the metro station too.
Plus there are like tons of shopping available all around. Food too!
I really miss Barcelona already!

P1016482

The first day was spent visiting the museums and Spanish village.
The weather was sunny but cool and that makes walking around very enjoyable!

And as usual, A is our tour guide again. Haha!

We also headed over to the Spanish Village which is about 15 to 20 mins walk away (uphill ahem).
I don’t like walking uphill, thus the smelly face.

P1016524

P1016522

Spanish Village was really pretty though!
It was initially built to be a little exhibition area.
But the response was so good that they decided to keep the place and make it an open air museum!

And as usual, we started feeding birds again. 😡

And A suggested that we should leave bread crumbs everywhere so that the pigeons will still have food even when after we left.
So cute hor this girl. :p

Before I end this post, I also want to share more about this website I came across couple of days back.
Woofilicious is a website that serves homemade organic meals and treats for our furkids,
and it’s really super cute!
I bought some treats for Ah Boo and she really liked it so just thought I’ll share it with you peeps!

They also have this Pets Tips section on the website and one of the articles was about responsibility as a pet owner.
One of the things I hate the most is seeing abuse of animals and abandonment of pets,
so if you are thinking of getting a new furkid, read it ok! 🙂

The Tiramisu Hero is thinking about adopting a charity as soon as we can manage our finances properly
and when our business stabilizes.
Hope that day will come soon and I can’t wait for the day for us to adopt
some animal-related charitable organization and do our part for the animals.

I will also be doing Botox on my jaw muscles tomorrow! *thrilled*
I last did it couple of years back and the results were really good.
Hope tomorrow’s session will bring some kickass results too!
Will definitely update this space and share my experience! :B

Monday Blurps

This entire week has been a very joyous one because we were all busy with A’s brother’s wedding!
We prepared our new The Tiramisu Hero product, TuttiHero for his reception at home too!
Will be launching this product soon on our website and A and I were both very excited about it!

I also got my fresh manicure and pedicure at Juup Nails!
I am loving the designs so much – fresh manicures always make my day.
I’m shallow like that sometimes. Heh!

The solemnization was done at Vineyard at Hort Park and it was just so beautiful!
So much effort was put into the every little details and the atmosphere was great!
Super romantic lor! Hahaha.
Congratulations to Donn and Meihua, the really cute couple! ❤

There are a lot of other pretty dresses there too so do check them out
if you’re looking for something new for your wardrobe too!

Love my red hair, courtesy of Shunji Matsuo too!
At first, I was worried that it might be too red but it came out just right. Super happy!
Hahahaha. First time having such red hair. :p

A and I also took time off to visit Mommy Rossie and Baby Rykiel! ❤
It was also Aiyolove’s birthday so we had a mini celebration with her.

IMG_3117

I’m wearing my new top from Cadith! It’s super comfortable especially for a laidback Saturday.
There are so many very pretty dresses on the website, wish I could bring them all home. 😦
Check out their Facebook Page to see their stuff even before the launches!
They just launched a new collection with many blazers, printed dresses and more. Just so you know. Heh!

And they are so expressive too.

A and I also visited Jayne at her shop Soeurs at Cineleisure Level 2!
It’s always very fun to visit her and gossip. *auntiehood*
You can see the shoes they have on their Facebook Page.
We walked away with 3 pairs of new kicks! Very love!!
We also brought some TuttiHero for her and Sir Antonio made a guest appearance too.
Hahaha!

HAHAHA so cute!

IMG_3222

And I have to say it’s very depressing to take pictures with Jayne because her face is so small. (T_T)
I think I am officially addicted to chiffon shirts too.
My current favourite is this one I whisked away from Runway Bandits!!
